Tulsa as 2 point favorite........

I think Tulsa is a solid team. I also think they are underestimating the loss of Kinne and overrate Green. There is probably a reason Green ended up at Tulsa rather than one of the other 7 BCS school (and Houston) that offered him out of HS. Tulsa is a good CUSA team but there is still a big difference between BCS teams and CUSA teams.

Green has the chance to redeem himself and will probably be better at Tulsa that he was at NU but I still think our defense will be able to handle him.

I also think our offense will be able to do enough against Tulsa's D to win the game. It will probably be closer than we would like, but I think we win.

Pretty freaking close. Barnett had more yards with just a few more attempts and both had the same number of interceptions. But I know , quarterbacks cannot progress they only regress right? Their best years are only in high school. I mean as a redshirt freshman Barnett did nothing that hadn't been done in the past, just same old, same old.

Not really that close. Convert it to completion % and Yards per pass:

Manning: 61.8% 7.92ypp
Barnett: 50.0% 5.46ypp

Those numbers would have put Manning #50 in the nation in completion percentage and 27th in the nation in yards per pass. Barnett is not in the top 100 in either category.

OMG....comparing Barnett to Manning or Favres freshman years? (FACEPALM)

Fine.....heres Peytons Soph year:
1995 380 244 64.2 2954 4 22
ATT COm % YDS INT TDS

Wake me up when Jantz AND Barnett COMBINE for that.

It is not close at all unless you just look at yards. And it took him 20 more attempts just to get 60 more yards.

I am not saying Barnett won't progress becaues I am sure he has. He played pretty decent for a RS Freshman in the Big 12. But to compare him to Peyton's RS Freshman year it is not close.

:biglaugh: So troll, please tell me the last great quarterback to be in the heisman race or All-American or even a first team all conference player as a freshman or even a sophomore? There may be a few, but not many, quarterbacks with those awards as sophomores but not freshman.

So Oklahoma State is starting a freshman at quarterback, you penciling him in for a trip to New York in December and I am not talking about the Pinstripe Bowl?

Well its close enough to have a conversation about.

Not surprisingly.....you missed the whole point of my post. Reading comprehension is a heckuva thing.

He's not saying that Barnett is as good as Peyton or Favre.

He is saying that even the best QBs ever were pretty lackluster as freshmen. The POINT is that Barnett could improve a bunch over the next couple years. The point is NOT that JB will end up as good as two HOF QBs.

Stop being jerks and arguing with every effing opinion posted on this effing site just to argue.

We shouldn't lose to any non BCS school ever. Especially now that Utah, Boise State (almost), and TCU are in big-boy conferences now. Hell, Houston and SMU are going to them too.

I don't see any problems with being ****** at this line. Even if we are a below average BCS school, we should never lose to non-BCS.

Yikes. Intriguing game. RT @EricBaileyTW Tulsa is an early 2-point road favorite in opening game at Iowa State. http://*******/kaeJC2

Huh?

I think someone is mistaken, no way we should be an underdog.

well if they were an underdog i can guarntee you that lot of people would be betting money line and Tulsa in vegas... ive been waiting for the line debating what i would do with my money.

Holy hell are we really comparing barnett to peyton manning?
Well RubbukHawk, your post spurned me to bring up this subject. Maybe you should reply to it. Again what was your expectation for Barnett? Heisman? All-Big 12? All-American? I know he was a freshman but thats no excuse, we expect freshman quarterbacks at ISU to be in that conversation even though it never happens at any other school, we have to expect it here.

I think everyone knows that Barnett can progress from his RS FR year but the question is how much?
