Could not agree more. I think we'll get a good coach out of this, but we should keep it sane.
Maybe push the edge of the box, but don't go wild, especially the Liepold idea.

Our new coach could be a staunch believer in Scientology as far as I care, as long as they win most of their football games.
Maybe it's just me, but I flat-out don't care about religion around a football program. Instill your program with the power of Jesus, Yahweh, Allah, alien souls, no one gives a flying f*** as long as you win some g**d***ed football games!
If liepold or Alford get the gig, jp should just pack his bags...

What we need in a coach is the innate ability to recruit and then secondly the ability to "see" that recruit starting. Of all the stuff that drove me nuts about our coaches was not seeing Mike Warren as the feature back and Lanning running the offense. Rhoades would be here today if those two started the season beating Iowa and Toledo. Now also consider this in a coach....a single player can change your team and what offense you run. With a Richardson we pass first, with Lanning we confuse D's and punish pass coverage LB's trying to tackle him. Coaches can't adapt kids to whatever style the coach wants. Coaches have to adapt to what talent they have. Look at how Baylor and TCU are affected when their QB's are lost. Again, how could Rhoads not see Warren and Lanning as his starters going into the season??
I agree with this. I would have been ok if we'd have hired Ben Jacobsen for BB, cause I think he had a lot to do with McDermott's success at UNI.
I wonder if Pollard has called Walt Anderson and his band of monkeys yet for their opinion on who we should hire in addition to the minister of his church?
Look at where we get our best recruits - down south. Whether it's Texas or Florida or somewhere else along the gulf coast, parents and recruits eat up the religious angle. It plays VERY well in living rooms in the south.
I personally don't give a rip about religion, but I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it as an attribute of a prospective head football coach.

I wasn't so much "dismissing" it. If that's what it takes to bring kids to our school and that's what it takes to win a bunch of football games, then by all means do it.
That is one thing that does appeal to me about Frost and being the only real assistant I think I would consider. He's played and learned the game from some hall of fame coaches.
Side note...does anyone thin Pollard would ask J Walters and Eric H. For thoughts on next coach? I could see Walters having some sort of input.
I this going to be a daily thing? Because it should be, like to gauge what the people are thinking.
