Those that have had a Vasectomy

Had it done 10 years ago. Family Practice in Ames. In and out in 30 minutes. One cut. No stitches. Very little swelling. Bag of ice and back to work!! Cute nurse did the shaving!! I had friends ask me how it was and I told them it was pretty painless.

What's the usual post surgery time to blanks? Isn't it like 3 months or something before you're....well....purged?

I went to Dr. Richard Chopp in Austin (no lie). Got a local, no big deal. Got shaved by Rocco, that was not cool.

That is the thing all my friends told me. Shave yourself in the shower before hand. You do not want the nurse doing it dry with a disposable bic.

From WebMD....

Failure to use another birth control method until the sperm count is confirmed to be zero. It usually takes 10 to 20 ejaculations to completely clear sperm from the semen.

I did find that I tend to cry more at movies and often times feel the need to cuddle after the act. Whatever you do, protest, resist, make a big deal out of it to the wife, then in the end go get it done. And for allahs sake, make sure you tell her it hurts like heck (it does not by the way). If you play your cards right and have a sympathetic wife you can milk this thing (maybe a poor choice of words) for a full weekend. I'm talking about 48 hrs in bed with a full compliment of movies, games, food, beverages, and a bell to ring when you need a new ice cold bag of peas or frozen corn. Just do it.

Truth.

It's really not that bad, although reading the posts I'm kind of ****** at my doctor for not offering the valium. Anyway, without question the worst part was the anticipation. I worked a 1/2 day and drove from DM to Ames to get it done. Thought I was going to pass out on the drive down. Take the advice I got and followed:
1. Use the ice for at least a day, regardless.
2. Don't do anything remotely strenuous for at least 2 days, no matter how good you feel.
3. Best advice from my dad..."buy a 6-pack of Budweiser, sit on one and drink the other 5."

PS: I had mine done on Friday the 13th the day before Valentines day last year. My wife made the appointment.

Re: The that have had a Vasectomy

I won't do it.

Trojan man here.

I'm calling you out. You sound like a loser and probably are imposing a lot of other old time ideas in your "relationship". Why not do it? It's no problem at all. The anxiety to get it done is the worst issue. After that, you do not have to deal with your self imposed BS dignity of being "Trojan Man"

What a first post- I'm sorry man:biglaugh:

Do you notice any difference during intercorse at all? Does it hurt during? Did you suddenly start becoming more emotional or take up scrapbooking or croshay?

My wife says I need to get it done but I'm scared as hell. I will have to get a week worths of valium leading up to it.

Can you get a discount if you said Chris Williams sent me?

I'm a KSU fan that came by to wish ISU good luck in today's game. I post to a few OT forums and checked yours out. I had to laugh when I saw your post. That was me 20 years ago. In Kansas there is a one week waiting period from the time you decide you want a vasectomy until the time the procedure is done. That's the worst part, you imagine every little thing that could go wrong. The procedure itself was painless, for me anyway. I had little discomfort afterwards, but my brother swore he dying for a week after his. Everything works just as it did before except that sperm is not in the ejaculate. And, no, I havent started scrapbooking yet.

When you get it done, pick the Thursday of the NCAA Tourney or Friday or The Masters if you're a golf fan. If you're gonna be laid up for 2 or 3 days make sure there's some damn good sports on to watch.
