This type of shenanigans is what gets us into trouble. Everyone just needs to chill out and talk with each other (who cares about a$m at this point, they are digging their own graves). It sounds like the AD's and presidents of the 9 schools other than a$m are putting up a solid front to stay together and maybe even reach out to a couple more schools. Unless you are a credible member of the media with a first hand source (no "a$m officials say "-" will go with us) I don't care.

Did you skip the IF its true? How about the Not sure to trust writer? IF this is true then we are in deep ****.

OK so I have seen Missouri, Clemson, Va Tech, FSU, UNC and Louisville as all schools rumoured to atleast have a shot at joining A&M into the SEC. Most are interesting. If a ACC school were to move what does that do to the ACC where do the go for another team or 2? Does that then put the Big East as a FB conference in question?

Exactly! If the Big East gets raped by the ACC and SEC what the hell do we do? If thats the case we better be hoping to get a Big 10 invite otherwise we will be joining the MWC.

Just throwing this out there, but why would universities contact another conference before even having an open meeting within their own conference? Perhaps those four were just looking for a backup plan (sans the forgotten 5 to big east last year). If they were told no, then it simply further solidifies their dedication to the current big 12.

They probably aren't completely sure what MU is going to do, and were just covering their ***** just in case. However, this should be taken care of in the conference call going on currently.

Unlike last year, Texas and OU don't seem to be freaking out about this situation. That tells me that they are confident we can keep the remaining 9 intact and perhaps already have a solid replacement in mind for the 10th spot and maybe 11-12 as well.

As long as Mizzou stays, the Big 12 with nine is still better off than the Big East and ACC.

Everything that surfaced over the last hour or so, if anything, was probably just writers throwing **** at the wall to see if it'd stick.

Texas needs to put to bed the notion of the LHN. The only way this conference survives and thrives is one network for the conference, that is it. There will ALWAYS be problems as long as there are individual networks.

I agree, but I don't have much faith in Mizzou. They seem to be pretty vocal about just about everything. It was an article from them that, imo, got this whole ball rolling this year, just like it did last year with their, "Us to the big 10 talk."

The last two years, Missouri seems to be the firestarter in all of this.

I wonder what teams they would be thinking about if they had teams in mind

Correct! But do you truly believe they would do this?

if there is no long horn network texas goes elsewhere and if texas goes the big 12 goes

Depending on how things break and who is on the table, ISU to the Big 10 might not be as crazy as once thought.

If one league goes to 16, you know they will too. We have the academics, geography, rivalries, and relationships between our administrators and theres. Depending on who goes where, they could find themselves having to choose amongst schools that aren't big "splashes" or add much to the B10N. I mean Nebraska only added 1.7 million people. Our programs are would be competitive, but we wouldn't come in and unseat any power players.

Based on ISU's perfect fit in every other respect, I could see the Big 10 considering it.

I'd put it at about a 1% chance, but there are sound logical reasons as to why it could happen.

I'm starting to think this way as well, with recent developments.

IF Mizzou goes to SEC, and then SEC continues to strike first by raiding ACC to get to 16...

followed by the Tagilabue (sp?) wildcard. If he can orchestrate the Big East jumping to 16 by scooping up the ACC remnants (Catholic BBall only schools leave to be on their own).

Those two things happen, suddenly you've locked up a bunch of the Big Ten's "A-list" expansion candidates. They can't get STL or KC with Mizzou. The Maryland/Duke/UNC rumors are shot. Maybe Boston College is spoken for...who knows, ND, Rutgers...I mean, who would really be out there that would be that slam dunk?

I think now that it's looking more likely that the Big Ten isn't going to knock over the first real big dominos and is more reactionary, ISU may yet get in if things happen in the right order.

Frankly, I'd rather see Iowa State in than most of the ACC schools mentioned anyway. Still a long, long shot, but who knows, anything is possible at this point.
