I think about the ***** House in Texas. A&M has a lot of history with UT. The public and the legislature will think about that tradition and whether it can continue. UT could schedule the Aggies as a non-con, but, they might not. A&M doesn't like being the regular loser in that match-up and that, I think, is their big motivator.
so Aggie goes on Monday... when if ever do we add another team? when does the next team say they are leaving? and when do the other conferences start expanding?

I think the big 10 would swoop in if there was an acc offer to either school. The big east is done then.
I bet we add another team by the time football starts or OU will probably be gone.
If aTm leaves, we will probably add another team ASAP to keep OU happy.
The SEC will also have an odd number of teams, so they will probably add another team. So, if we poach a team from the Big East and the SEC goes to the Big East or ACC, conferences will start expanding immediately.
Over the last 40 years or so, its been fairly even, 21-19 in the last 40 years.
I would think the goal would be that as soon as aTm is out the door that another member is in the conference before that door even closes. At least get the 1 done, then perhaps add the other 2 within a week or so, or worse case scenario we add them next off-season.

I don't think they make Big 10 enough money.
The Big 10 doesn't really need to expand and as bad as Delaney might want to, the university presidents aren't going to let him do it unless it's pretty damn lucrative. Now that they have their championship game, IMO it will take Notre Dame to spur Big 10 expansion.
Adding three more teams does bring in about $20 -$25 million (MM) in revenue just because of the title game. Essentially the Big 12 would be adding 2 teams gaining $25 MM in revenue. Split that money and A&M money between the new members and the current teams should not see a decline in revenue but should still have a net gain due to exit fees. There would probably be a minimum of $1MM per current team via exit fees, maybe more. Scoreboard would be paid of in no time!
Got to keep some action going to get to 1000 by 12am...
So, how sweet would it be if when all this unfolds that the Big East is actually the conference that disintegrates? The potential is there if the ACC/SEC/Big12 all combine to take away a few teams to bring them down below 8 members...
