The Fran fade

Hmm I am not seeing it. They will be a tough out if he comes back. But CBB will allegedly be better next year, so I'm not sure how Iowa will fare. They had a good year to try and make a run, with talent being down across the board.

Garza is an interesting prospect. I go back and forth trying to decide if he'll stick in the NBA or not. With everything being more spaced out, a wider lane, more athletic competition etc I have a hard time seeing it. I don't think he has the stamina to play many minutes at that level, and I don't think he'll be able to defend opposing 5's (the linked article has Garza as a PF in the NBA, not a C). Getting buckets will be harder than in college, but I think he'll still be able to at a fairly decent rate. Rebounding and defending though? Anyone's guess how he'll fare at that.

I simply don’t think the supporting is good enough to make them f4 quality.

Yeah this looks more accurate. I'd take ISU over 17.5 with a couple NIT wins. Iowa can go over 21.5 with Garza, but certainly not without. Jorbo, Weiskamp, and Frederick are all role players, and they would be the best ones Iowa could throw out there next year. Connor assist number take a hit without the big man to feed. Although I'm sure someone like Nunge or Pemsl could break out and slide into Garza's spot. Plug'n Play right?
Over/under is regular season only. ISU is not in the NIT if they're under that prior to the tournament.

I don't know how the other teams in the big 12 shape up for next season, you could be right. Would be a nice jump up for you guys. The Hawks are probably higher than 21.5 with Garza back.

Here's the thing about Iowa nxt year: Theoretically, they should be really good if Garza comes back. Elite 8 good possibly. But with all those guys coming back, Fran always struggles with playing too many guys. I think that was one of the reasons they played so well this year--he couldn't screw that up. And you never know if Garza can make it thru his entire senior season/career without some major injury. That's pretty rare.

Both good points. I have the same concerns myself. Nothing is ever a given. National perception at the start of next year would probably have then as a top ten ish team. Could they live up to that? Who knows. Hope we get to find out.

Just out of curiosity what metric leads you to believe the B10 is superior?

So where will he get drafted? Hawks tell us in football that the most important thing is where they get drafted and if they hook with the league.

All this tells me is there's too many arbitrary awards. Only 1 or 2 actually matter.

How many conflicted Packer/Hawkeye fans are there in the world, watching Allen Lazard this past season?

There's only one POY award and that hasn't been announced yet

couldn't even lead his team to the tournament. Yikes.

If Garza comes back, along with Jorbo, Patrick, and Nunge that will get Fran back to his 10-11 player rotation. We all know what that leads to. Bwahahahaha
