The Fran fade

At least they have their NCAA tournament performance to fall back on.

They just beat up on each other during the season after getting beat up on during the non-conference and the NCAA tournament isn't in B1G arenas and sneakers or something.

Ffs. You pre-baking the excuse if we lose is feeble.

ISU has lost to Iowa because they either weren't as good or thought they could just stroll in and do what they wanted (2016).

Part of that is coaching, part of it is how college basketball works.

The last two times ISU has just been bad while Iowa was decent, and in 2018 ISU's dysfunction was on full display.

That said, Iowa has pulled some **** in the game but they also put a lot of weight in fall basketball.

I am not sure what to make of the game this year. It still kind of feels like ISU could get blown out like they have the last couple times, but there are a few things that are black and white about this year compared to last:

Iowa is worse
Iowa State is better
Hilton will have fans (but TBD on if the Magic is back yet)

The sample size is small, however it seems like ISU should be able to keep it within a dozen or so. Iowa struggled for 30ish minutes to put away UNC Central. Their offense still looks pretty free flowing, but I don't think they'll shoot it as well as last year with no Weiskamp, Garza, or Frederick running around. ISU has better guards and could make life difficult for the Hawks. ISU will probably have a hard time stopping Keegan from getting his.

Superbowl factor is directly proportional to number of Iowa kids on the team. The team with more Iowa kids with chips on their shoulders will always outperform their standard. The question is whether we'll be able to win against their try-hard superbowl versions.

I can guarantee TJ will have them ready to out preform their superbowl. I am also confident our guards are better than theirs, so we hit some shots against their zone, along with Jones and Conditt staying out of foul trouble.........I think we win.

It's all about slowing down Iowa's offense. Our guys have shown the ability to play some pretty stifling defense, but also haven't played a team that can shoot quite like Iowa, nor a player as freakish as Keegan Murray. Iowa has played a laughable schedule so far, but is averaging over 90 ppg. ISU has only broke 80 once, and only 70 once (same game). I don't like our odds if Iowa's shooting is on target. Denying good looks and being super aggressive defense is going to be key. ISU loses badly in a track meet I think. Just don't have the ability to shoot our way back into games. ISU needs to muck that game up and be the more physical team. No Garza to account for this year, so I think they can do it. The question is will they?

Another question I have: Does Jorbo sit out til the ISU game so he can set the all time 3 pointers record v.s. them?

This part has me concerned. We had good looks v.s Alabama States zone and could not hit the broad side of a barn most of the game. We shoot like that vs Iowa, who plays the same zone and probably does it better, and we could lose by 20.

Honestly, Alabama State probably ran a tighter zone than what we will see against Iowa. If we are content with just chucking three's then yeah it probably won't be pretty but if we swing the ball from side to side and attack the soft middle we should be ok.

You would swear Luka was still at Iowa after reading this thready. I think Franisdaman wants to have Luka's baby. This is bordering on just plain strange now and Franisdaman is psycho or something.
