Texas has no chance

Just because Texas needs at least 1 win to get in doesn't mean they will be more focused or prepared than ISU. Plus, losing Wangmene doesn't help their cause--it's never good to lose depth and he's got size too. And I don't believe anyone on our team, coaches or players, feels satisfied. We were a lot closer to winning the conference than it seems. I have a feeling they won't be happy with anything less than getting to the championship game.
True. I'm sure Scotty would tell you that they aren't in it for a participation ribbon.

Haven't read the entire thread yet, but I will say this is pretty out of character for you, Cydkar. I like it (that's not to say I don't like your other posts, as I generally agree with you).

J'Covan Brown will have a great night against the 2nd team all defense team member, Chris Babb. Babb doesn't stand a chance. :jimlad:

Babb will be on a mission and will shut Brown down. Game over. On to Mizzou.

To start a thread with such an emphatic statement tells me that you don't know much about basketball. Which is supposed to impress us the most, your bravado or your abilty to see into the future?

I think there's a good possibility that we'll beat Texas, but all the intangibles point to Texas so I think there's also a good possibility they will win. The operative words are "I think". You should try inserting those words before your statements.

Texas beat ISU handily once this season... they have a chance for sure. I think that being underdogs is a good motivation for ISU. GO CYCLONES!

I don't think we'll be considered underdogs in this one..but if somehow they have texas favored, I might have to take a quick flight to vegas.

All of them? I don't think so. ISU is the hotter team playing for a higher seeding, TX is playing for its post-season life (although one could argue this is an intangible in TX's favor), Texas fans don't travel well if they are not the prohibitive favorite. And Texas will arguably be the 2nd-least favorite team in KC (after Mizzou).

I don't think it's a sure thing, either, but I like our chances.

Please list said intangibles that all favor Texas.

Thank you.

Texas has no chance.

If I impress you I can't help that.

Its simple math. Babb erases one player. Texas=Brown. Texas-Brown=0. As banged up as they are, I don't see where they'll get points from after Babb erases Brown. My guess is, he gets frustrated and jacks up 35 shots anyway.

If we can get anything going on offense, this should be a great match up for us. Much happier with this, than having to play KSU again.. just for the physical toll those games can take. since texas will not rough you up the way KSU will.

Cydkar has always been on of the top basketball posters here. I wouldn't speak too loud if I where you or you might get buried.

Still I think there is a chance Texas wins because we may not come to play. Were not in a do or die situation and I could see us sleep walking in there.

Lose to Texas and this team will most likely get an 8 or 9 seed and have to face a 1 seed in the 2nd round of the Tournament. Beat Texas and make a run in the Big XII Tournament and they can most likely avoid the dreaded 8 vs 9 game.

To sum it up.... Yes... the Texas game is absolutely a do or die situation for the Cyclones. They are playing to improve their seed in the NCAA Tournament and position themselves to make a run. I would say avoiding a 2nd round matchup with Kentucky, or Syracuse, or Michigan State, etc.... would be in the Cyclones best interests.

997 posts and you still think that people's posts are merely opinions?!?!?

Say what you want about Texas needing to win, and we don't - but I sense from that the players they are as hungry as ever, and are NOT satisfied with just making the tournament. Scott has really been leading with a sense of urgency and a chip on his shoulder I haven't ever seen from him. This is his team, he wants to keep playing.

Yeah, first game is huge..If we get through Texas, I don't think it matters what happens against missouri..we should avoid that 8/9 game(I hope). But this first game is huge.

I hope you know what you are doing here. If we were to lose, you would officially become the bad luck guy.
