Texas has no chance

What are you talking about? They have everything to lose.

^This. Texas is under an incredible amount of pressure for Thursday's game. Lose, and they are probably out. Win, and they've got an alright shot at getting in.

It will be very interesting to see how they respond to that pressure.

Not sure if I would go as far as to say Texas has no chance. Some are calling this a "must-win" for the Longhorns to make the NCAA Tournament. Rick Barnes will have that team ready to play.
To be fair, some were saying that the KU games was a must win for them. Barnes may have his team ready to play, but so will Fred.

Would we rather play KSU or Texas in the first round. I think the consensus is UT. When we got beat in Austin we had one of the worst offensive performances this year and still had a shot at pulling out a win. I agree, if we play well we will beat them.

Texas all the way. KSU is already in the tourney so they don't have their backs against the wall. Still I say Texas and so would almost anyone else. If we want to win we have to be ready to play. There will be no blaming Texas for a lose in the first round. If we lose it will not be because Texas back was against the wall, it will be because we didn't come to play.

Remember that Iowa State has a losing conference record this season away from Hilton Coliseum (4-5). One of those losses was against Texas.

I think we win Thursday, but it's far from a sure thing.

What is our neutral court record?

I think it's 2-0 against Providence and Rice

I know that road != neutral, especially when we will have a definite crowd advantage over Texas in KC... but it will definitely be a different setting, different locker room, different sorts of things that can change players' mindsets that might have an impact. Who knows?

But Texas would have that too, hence "neutral" meaning no one has an advantage.

Just because Texas needs at least 1 win to get in doesn't mean they will be more focused or prepared than ISU. Plus, losing Wangmene doesn't help their cause--it's never good to lose depth and he's got size too. And I don't believe anyone on our team, coaches or players, feels satisfied. We were a lot closer to winning the conference than it seems. I have a feeling they won't be happy with anything less than getting to the championship game.

My point is that it's all about how the players react and everyone reacts differently.

To compare: Texas is 6-3 in Big 12 play at home and 3-6 on the road. Iowa State went 8-1 at home and 4-5 on the road.

I would guess both teams would be affected pretty similarly... let's hope so
