Probably something you'd survive if you were a decent coach. But if the AD sees the potential of having to fire you, doing it when you can do it for cause would be the way to go.
Why would Peyton want to put in that much work when he can make a boatload via ESPN
Depends if he follows his ego like John Elway. Elway could have taken the easy life, but instead believed he could make the Broncos elite again. Guy did one good move of bringing in Manning when he still had just a little tread left on the tires. After that he though he was the QB whisperer and proved he was awful at it.
Totally different jobs. Elway isn't worried about budget (Slary cap yes), Elway isn't involved ion softball, cross country and bowling teams.
I agree, but still more of an ego thing that some of these guys think they can do it and just rely on their name.
I could see Peyton being the mascot before wanting to be AD OR a college coach...those jobs are life styles, not careers.
Tennessee was after Campbell back when they hired Pruitt. I'm sure they'll try and shake that tree again, but good luck. That's a disaster down there before you even get to potential NCAA punishments.
