Summer Theme Song

First off, someone said "Shots" from LMFAO debuted in November of last year. It was LAST SUMMER'S THEME SONG everywhere around the country. I always forget how far behind Iowa is in the music scene...

Anyways, I've been jamming out to the Dirty Heads, love "Lay Me Down", but the whole album is pretty chill.

That Rain is a Good Thing song makes me want to bash my head in with a hammer as does anything from Kenny Chesney or Blake Shelton.

Not trying to pick on ya CydTracked but I can't stomach any country music that is played on any of the radio stations around here. It is all overproduced cheesy sappy Nashville crap that is made to make videos so all the housewives will watch it on CMT. I always tell people who like country to do a little investigating into the modern red dirt country music scene and modern Americana, once you find it you will never go back.

Reminds me of the Mailbag that CW did where his answer to what kind of music he likes, it was something along the line of real country music by guys like Blake Shelton. I about crapped my pants I was laughing so hard at that one. It's too bad I don't think it was a joke though.

Cory Morrow says it best at the beginning of his song Nashville Blues - "Nashville Sucks"

End of rant, I will now step off my soap box.

LMFAO released one single prior to July 2009. They released their album in July of 09, and Shots wasn't the first single slotted for release. Shots was officially released for on air play (mainstream) in late October, early Novmeber, and peaked on billboard 02/06/10. I don't think Billboard covers jsut Iowa, but yeah, when it comes to Hip Hop and R&B, Iowa probably isn't on the forefront. My point was it really wasn't around for 90% of the listening public for last summer, so it might carry over this year........But if Shots was your summer song from last summer, you are pretty cool......

My summer theme:
Hellyeah - Hell of a Time

Shut it Down - Drake w/ The-Dream
Light Up - Drake
Next Girl - The Black Keys
Lil Freak - Usher
Tell 'Em - Sleigh Bells
Rill Rill (or Ring Ring, its labeled different everywhere) - Sleigh Bells

Here's a throwback for when you're grilling and drinking a Miller High Life

Back in the High Life Again - Steve Winwood

Everyone has their own taste in music so can't blame someone if they don't like what I like. CW likes the country music so I'm in good company I'm sure! My music tastes have gone from rap/hip hop and top 40 through HS and college to mostly country now as I can't stand to listen to a top 40 station these days. All sounds like techno crap with that stupid Tpain electronic voice sounds that are annoying. Country music actually is more like the 90's top 40 music these days IMO where there were good instrumentals and lyrics that you could sing to.

Also another favorite classic of mine for the summer:

Luke Bryan also does a pretty good cover of it too along with Collective Soul's "Shine" and Brooks & Dunn "Hillbilly Deluxe"

Now that song brings back some memories. We always had parties on farm ponds in high school and I bet that song got played about 5 times a night as well as "dust on the bottle".

Tons of truth in this post.

Cooler Than Me, forsure. The whole Drake Album, too, along with the Zac Brown Band.

I guess I was just cool then. I loved "I'm In Miami *****" from the radio play and had to get their whole album, so "Shots" found it's way onto my playlists pretty fast as well.
