Love it. I have not taken a day of vacation this year, I will spend the next solid week at the fair. When I was young (26 now) it was a great place to hook up with the numerous farm ladies, since I was a farm guy. The concerts are great, the Draft Horse show is awesome, the food is spectacular, and memories are numerous. We are camping this year for the first time, which is going to be a blast. All you haters are lame, take your high brow attitude (and I'm talking to you West Des Moines, Waukee, Johnston, Urbandale, Clive residents) and stay home.

Hold up a second cowboy... Remove Urbandale from that list and then you can carry on. :biglaugh:

I voted hate it. It's really nothing personal. I just hate crowds.

If someone was handing out hundred dollar bills, the line better be shorter than 10 minutes, or I'm probably not going to wait.

I love walking through the barns...cattle, swine, sheep and horse. They are like cathedrals in my eyes. Also the livestock pavilion has to be one of the top buildings in the entire state...just beautiful.

The commercial buildings, vendors, grandstand and carnival are a waste of time. however, Pioneer hall is very neat ( that is where the best lemonade in the fair is served).

we also really enjoy the 4-H swine show. There is some great competition.
