stadium comments

Because we shouldn't try and improve the experience, we should just kneel at the altar of Pollard and use this message board to trash Iowa. I've been going to games since the late 70's/early 80's. I remember the stupid car, the astro turf and the hot tub in the end zone. Atmosphere is 100% improved. That doesn't mean it can't be better. Right now it is almost like complete and total stimulation of the senses like the congressional scene in Idiocracy. My brain/ears can only process so many Kick Start My Heart beginnings. Who is in charge of the sound dept/music selection? Does anyone know? I assume it is either The Round Guy or some other former DJ at KGGO.
The atmosphere could improve by adding a hot tub in both end zones.

You could install a decibel meter on your smartphone and record different sound levels at the next home game. Gives the staff something to work with beyond a vague statement.
Phone apps aren't accurate. I'm sure the staff has a dedicated meter to monitor the volume.

Fairly simple solution: turn this thread into a vote and send the results to JP after a couple hundred votes. Or, better yet, send him the link to this thread. That way he always has an up-to-date count.

So we went from EXTREME Loudness last game to hardly being able to hear muffled and incoherent announcing this game.

The music was perfect, then as soon as the PA announcer started talking it was like they turned it way down, and not to mention he talked really fast and did not enunciate well or it was really muffled like he was talking through a mask or something not sure which. It did not appear to be our usual person but I do not really understand why they cant get the volume issue straight.

It is a minor issue, but it seems strange that during the last game it was unbearable loud then this game the music seemed perfect but the announcing was so quiet.

I did notice the sound seemed to be better as I moved around the stadium a bit, so maybe there is an issue with the speakers specifically aimed at my section. Not sure.

Did others have this problem? I know many commented in my section they had no idea what the PA was saying.

Im in the lower 1/3 of the lower bowl and I couldn’t hear hardly anything the new PA guy said. It was an issue. I thought this multiple times during the game.

I was in the upper deck and it was unbearably loud. I mean like damage your hearing long term loud.
That is definitely the way it was for me during the Kansas game...but I didn't think it was as bad this game. Like actually the music seemed fine. But I could not hear the PA at all.

When all you complainers are laying in Sunny Acres Nursing Home in soiled diapers this stuff will sure seem trivial.
Were you there? Could you hear the PA guy? This is what I am asking? But the last game it was ear drum shattering so much that it was distorted, that was an issue too. I just dont understand how the volume levels have changed for every game and are all over the place. Seems like something that would never change once they set it.

I'd bet they aren't changing it. But things out of their control - wind speed/direction, temp, humidity - will all impact sound quality. Even the density of fans and what they're wearing will change how the sound gets bounced around.

Noise was perfect in section m, we could all boo and you could hear us. Some of you people need to grow a pair, or have you never been to a rock concert.
