stadium comments

Were you there? Could you hear the PA guy? This is what I am asking? But the last game it was ear drum shattering so much that it was distorted, that was an issue too. I just dont understand how the volume levels have changed for every game and are all over the place. Seems like something that would never change once they set it.

My guess is winds effect volume level in different parts of the stadium somewhat. I could hear the PA just fine this game and the volume wasn't painfully ear damaging loud this time. I think not destroying anyone's hearing, or clipping the amp should be the priority in volume level. Sorry if it isn't quite as loud in certain places, but a stadium is not an ideal place for sound especially with a permanent system of questionable quality and age. Really doesn't bother me except when it is dangerously loud. The music selection and constant need to fill space do bother me though.

Yeah I guess it is different for every part of the stadium. This game there was a Noticeable difference in volume between the PA sound and the Music. The PA guy sounded like his mic was half as loud or even less than the rest of the media being played.

I wonder if it could have been an issue with the actual speakers directed toward my section or something. Seams like things have been all over the place with sound this year.

Not really a complaint though more of an observation, I found it odd how much the sound has been all over the place this year. It was overall a great day and experience at the Jack.

Another funny thing is I saw OSU people blaming the missed FGs on cold and wind, which made me wonder where they were. Because all things considered it was a pretty nice and very calm day for a late October day in Sunny Ames IA. Barely any breeze, and in the 50s, if that is cold and windy, they have some serious issues. LOL

What is the name of the song that they play when ISU comes out of locker room.?? Hey, hey, something?? and some of the other songs?? Really had the joint rocking at times.....

Sound is a real issue. We used to have audio on both ends of the stadium, but the SEZ speakers blew out during the game a few years ago. I sit in Section 27 (next to the away section on the lower bowl) and you can hardly hear the PA sometimes because they are trying to pump sound all the way across the field from the north end zone. On the flip-side, I'm sure everyone on the north end of the stadium will go deaf from the toned-up speakers.

There's never been audio coming from the south end

TX game on Saturday:
Sitting in the top row of the SEZ in direct line of the north speakers, happy to report the volume levels were 1000x better than earlier in the season. The lack of ear-splitting distorted acoustics was pleasantly apparent, right up until the post-game Ford commercial that assaulted the senses.

I noticed how quiet the into video was.

Power by Kanye
Correct. Side note: I figured out this summer that that is the song they played walking in and played it for my six year old. Advice: do NOT play the unedited version of that song for a six yr old.

I noticed after the trick play, X to Milton, there was no hype (celebration) music. I expected it because I was waiting for the stadium to explode. They did play something after both of Hall's 2 TD's.

"Juicy Wiggle" usually gets played after the first Cyclone TD of the second half. And there is the one song that makes the students make the upper deck shake on the east side after a score. I think that one followed a Breece TD.

Too quiet in the SEZ imo. Also wish the people in the Sukup Club would stand up during a big game situation but they’re too busy with their beers. Those are my two gripes

I was in section K, which is about as far away from the speakers as you can get. I didn't really notice the sound being good/bad outside a couple of instances. It's poor sound quality, but the volume wasn't too offensive.

I agree on the Sukup Club folks. I would never pay the prices for those tickets, but I understand the social aspect of the game is more important for others.

Texas was my first game since UNI. I don't remember Juicy Wiggle getting played at the UNI game, but against Texas, when that song hit it was like a switch got flipped for the entire stadium. Coming back from the TV timeout, the place was pretty wild still. Glad JTS has found a cool song tradition that everyone can get behind and gets the place going.

They need to certainly liven things up a bit. Here is a couple suggestions:
1. Play Bells of Iowa State before the National Anthem. Seems like the crowd is ready to breakout and get ramped up then Bells of Iowa State gets played...Buzz Kill!
2. When the opponents get a penalty, play the backup noise of a construction truck
3. Keep the volume cranked...it's a football game!

Yeah I have trouble getting the people around me in the SEZ to understand STFU when we're on offense and stand the f up on 3rd downs and other big situations on defense. A lot of fair weather fans in the SEZ who only have tickets while their kids are attending ISU.

A lot of companies have groups of tickets in the SEZ that the people change out every game...have to educate them each game. Only gripe during the Texas game was the woman with the Texas clothes and a hok ball cap on...wtf? Guess she believes in using double negatives...
