Spurrier interview on Dan Patrick

I understand some people are calling him a quitter, but he just gave a very real interview on Dan Patrick, which will be up later.
Summary is basically he isn't any good anymore and had become a liability. Better to give assistants a shot now, versus all of them getting fired with him at the end of the season.

Man, I wish Rhoads thought like that.

Come out from behind that screen name and I would be happy to acknowledge your existence.
Easy to throw shots with no repercussions. Lots of that on this site.

Well, that got awkward.

Always a fine line between "sticking it out" and understanding you aren't good and should quit. Clearly Rhoads won't resign, but he is not a good head coach. D line coach or coordinator are likely better fits for him.

This demonstrates your ignorance on the topic completely.

Agree. I honestly don't see the benefit of letting go of Rhoads in the middle of the year. It would appear the damage on this year has basically been done already. Let him ride out the rest of the mess, then clean it all up afterwards and start over next year.

Typically I agree. This year, however, you have an assistant who will get serious consideration (assuming he wants it). The benefit is that you can give Mangino a job audition to see how he handles it.

Pays to have his opinions broadcast, vaguely threatens people who dislike said opinions.

Newflash, homeboi: If you put yourself out there, you're going to have to deal with the anonymous public. Especially, if you're on a forum that is 99.99 percent anonymous. Vague threats make you look immature and petty. Do yourself a favor, don't do the podcast if you're going to be a crybaby and threaten people. You can dish it out to the coaching staff, but you sure as hell can't take it. Kettle, meet pot.

A Threat? Really? You are dumb. Learn to read then feel free to come back in.
Never once said anything about not being able to take it.
EVERYTHING I have said about the coaches is on the record. They know exactly who said it. I hid behind nothing.
That is a night and day difference compared to anybody who says negative stuff about me here behind a screen name.
Wanna criticize the way I do??? Then do it under your own name and photo. Until then, you are a coward.

I could certainly be wrong, but I honestly don't think Mangino will be in the running for HC. I have a feeling Pollard will want to bring in a new coach with a new system...and some new assistants as well.

Look, this is usually cool and all, but you're really bringing it on yourself at this point. Especially by playing the "anonymous vs. real-life person" thing. If that's your best defense against some heat, you're really running out of defensible options.

Opinions are fine on all sides of an argument. However, all that you guys are doing is catfighting.

IowaRealEstate vs. The Internet

ROUND 1: FIGHT!

I state an opinion and then take heat for it from who??? A 12 year old girl? 35 year old man? A Hawk fan? Doesn't exactly make the "fight" fair in most cases to not know who your opponent is. When somebody hates you it seems reasonable to want to know who the person is.
But, I understand nobody wants to do it that way but me, so life will go on.
I can't even say I don't respect those people because I have no clue who not to respect.
The internet makes people very bold. Take away the anonymous nature and most have nothing left to say.

Oh, the irony...

You could try to just avoid the confrontation in the first place, and not have to worry about it... After all, they are just "anonymous internet people". Why do you care who they are, or what they have to say? They mean nothing to you. But, instead. you add all of this confrontation and meaning to otherwise meaningless/baseless posts.

I kind of enjoy it.

Dear clueless, coaches change positions all the time. Never said he was a D line coach. A D coordinator could easily become a line coach, d back coach or linebacker coach. But thanks for your worthless chime in.

Why wouldn't you just use the position he has actually coached in the past? Actually, I believe DL is the only defensive position he didn't coach. It's because you didn't know and likely didn't care. That's all fine, it's just ridiculous to come off as a coaching expert when you don't demonstrate any knowledge how things actually work.

You enjoy making an a** out of yourself? I thought you had a real-life reputation to uphold...

Well, in any case, it is what it is. You can do what you want, I surely don't mind. I'm sure you've heard all of this schpeel before, too, so carry on.

When have I ever said I was a coaching expert? I've never coached a day in my life.

My opinions on Iowa State sports has zero to do with being good at my job. I have helped many people on this site buy and sell homes. The no holds barred, honesty you see here works well in my field and my clients like it.
So no, nothing will be changing here in terms of my approach.

This is fitting. Part of a message I received today on this site. "I don't have a realtor and I know a few people in Des Moines that are, but honestly I like that you are not afraid to say your opinion (or be an ***) because I think that's a great attribute when trying to get the house I want."

Welcome to the internet and being a semi-public figure (in the Des Moines real estate world, at least). You chose to come on here and let everyone know who you were in order to pitch your services, say something stupid that anyone with half a brain knows will elicit some strong reactions...and act indignant when some anonymous message board users call you a buffoon? Why are you getting upset over something so predictable?

Because your stupid blue, cartoon face bothers me.

Good edit. I'm glad things are working out for you, really. I never once questioned your business, or ability to work in the real estate field. All I did was call a spade a spade. If it works out for you better that way, more power to you.
