Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

And yet our incompetent offense only scored 64 on the worst D in Fran's history

Yet scored in the 90's the other night in an away conference game that they won by 10---MUCH more important.

It's kind of a fun rivalry, but I can't think of a single Iowa-ISU game that held one iota of leverage over what the rest of the season entailed for either team.

Getting beat by Iowa is about like getting beat by UNI or Drake in that it's irrelevant if the conference slate went fine.

LOL the excuses for Iowa's poor b-ball attendance are really neat.

"Weeknight 8:00 tip is to hard for people in DSM area"
"Sunday afternoon games are challenging to get to"
"The dorms are too far away from Carver"
"There's just so much more to do in Iowa City"

The pathetic things is that Iowa has the Quad Cities, and Cedar Rapids all within an hour and they still can't get people to fill the seats.

We really are one of very few college programs that actually draw well. When I watch college games outside of ISU and the blue blood schools, most of the games are played with half empty arenas.

Possible wasnt the right word, ideal would be better.

Congrats though, you are a better fan than me.

Not only do we draw well but fans make incredible efforts to get to the games. Iowa State doesn't have near the population bases to draw from compared to a lot of other schools.

Oh that's tough, I'll just guess here

PG - Wigginton
SG - Jackson
SF - Babb/Lewis
PF - Young/Lard
PF - Grad transfer

How is Lard going to possibly start over Young? I mean Lard is redshirting this year and Young is playing. That has to mean that Young is better. Why would Prohm consider starting someone he had to redshirt this year?

Right?

Alot better? I think thats a stretch just because we beat Texas and Oklahoma State.

Look at our losses and look at their losses. We also beat Texas Tech and Miami on a neutral court. They can't win away from Carver apparently and they even lost to Omaha who we beat by 44 and lost to Seton Hall at Carver too. RPI don't like bro

Lard would be playing if he was here in the fall

Prohm is only redshirting Lard because of his situation regarding arriving on campus. He has found the lineup he likes right now, and having lard for 4 full years + the practice and work he is getting for the next 9 months is way better than rushing him in for 2/5ths of a season. Many have debated on whether they should use Lard this year, but I think it is smart for them to get a full 4 out of him, especially with being able to grow with our young recruiting class this coming year.

I'd say both are true- basically the same in the larger context of type of wins, but in the vacuum that is head-to-head comparison Purdue being the better of the two.

Let's say they're basically the same- Iowa has the convincing head-to-head and similar quality wins. There is nothing to say we're "way better". To do so requires writing off our loss to them as a bad night but counting Iowa's bad loss as the "truth". I firmly believe we win a 10 game series against them, but it likely wouldn't be by much, particularly not at the end of the year.

Actually Purdue win is probably worse than Tech win. Purdue is a middle of the pack in the really weak Big 10. While Tech is middle of the pack in the toughest league in the country.

ISU would win on a neutral court probably 9 of 10 times. They are way better but had worst game of the year by far at Iowa. It happens. One game doesn't mean much. If ISU plays a horrible game and loses at Texas does that mean suddenly ISU is not that much better than Texas?

@CyTwins, tell him how wrong he is.

So beating Iowa State and Purdue are worse wins than beating Texas Tech and Miami? They also lost to tourney teams like Seton Hall, Virginia, and Notre Dame. Miami just lost again last night and are looking like an NIT team.

Yeah, the loss to Omaha was inexplicable, but then again our loss to them where we werent even in the game was just as bad.

So, Ill agree, we are overall the better team and will probably separate ourselves from them come tourney time but to say right now we are "Alot" better is quite the stretch.
