SDW is transferring

The way Michigan has been playing this year, they could undoubtedly use him. They initially recruited him, unless I'm mistaken.

At any rate, I'd love to see go somewhere where he can get a waiver to play immediately. Glad he doesn't appear to have bitter feelings toward Fred or ISU for being red shirted only to not play here. Poor guy hasn't played a meaningful minute of basketball since his SR year of High School, probably killing him inside.

Lol yeah I'm sure a Michigan team fresh off back to back elite 8's and a national runner up 2 years ago is looking to add SDW. Good call

Best of luck to him. We were excited about him but he couldn't get minutes here. Just a sign of the step forward Fred made from when he was recruited until now.

Idk all the specifics but Fred has had plenty of guys leave, seems like all leave on somewhat good terms.

Big difference between the guys who have left Freds teams and the guys McD lost.

Some of our best players ran away from McD.
Fred has lost some role players who mostly left for more PT elsewhere and likely with Freds blessing.

Best of luck SDW!!!

I hope he can find a great situation and wish him nothing but the best.

My guess is he winds up at some good mid-major and becomes a very solid player and top three on the team in scoring. He's a good player but we have way too much talent at the guard position. Best of luck to him.

What's interesting? If SDW was going to crack the rotation, he needed to do so early on in the year. Unfortunately for him, he didn't and now he knows that he's locked out. As long as he transfers somewhere before the first day of class in the spring semester, he will be eligible next year like McKay was this year (as soon as the fall semester is over). The timing makes perfect sense, and it's not as though this is a huge surprise.

O.K., O.K., I know it's a bit slow waiting for the next game, but let's not criticize someone who thinks this is interesting news. Just the fact that you and many other people bothered to click shows that this is interesting to ISU fans. (Just think about how many posts in the past have mentioned this possibility.)

One reason, other than us losing a good player, is how it affects our recruiting. To me and many other fans, this is very interesting.

So is he officially done with team workouts and participation at this point. Not sure if this is finals week or what is going on with class schedules. Would be pretty great to see him get a start against Drake to show appreciation for all the hard work he put in as a Cyclone. Not sure if the timing with when the semester ends and the game time.

Either way he's a class act and I wish him the best where ever he lands.

It can't happen since that is the first game of the second semester which will be JM's first game he is eligible to play.

The kid just wants to play basketball other than the scout team in practice. I don't blame him one bit. I hope he lands on his feet somewhere and has a good junior and senior year. I imagine he will go to a small school in Michigan but you never know, I guess.

I'm super interested to see where he lands because I want to be able to follow him and cheer him on.

Best of luck to a great young man!

I think SDW will be successful wherever he ends up. He can be a big scoring threat with the ball in his hands. I think he just needs to be more of "the guy" to do it. This is the same guy that broke the CCL league record with 67 points in a game.

There are over 340 d1 basketball schools. You don't think he could start for a good chunk of them?

No kidding, he'll go somewhere and have success. He was just over recruited here and didn't get as many chances. I don't doubt that if we'd been thinner on guards the past few years that SDW would have gotten more PT and thus developed more. Some guys just need to be forced into a role and learn on the fly, SDW just never had the opportunity.

If SDW was here Fred's first year, there is no doubt he would have gotten 20 minutes a game.
