I don’t think an extra week of film on Iowa is going to help very much, because 1.) their game plans against Miami OH and Rutgers will be pretty vanilla, and 2.) Iowa doesn’t really do anything scheme wise that would surprise Iowa State. KF’s philosophy is essentially we don’t care if you know what we’re doing, we are going to out-execute you anyways.
Campbell has said pretty much the opposite of what you just stated. I'd love to see your source because he's a politician if he truly said that.
Do you really see ISU switching defenses for 1 game?
That seems strange to me.
Ok...so how many times has ISU scheduled a Thursday night game in week one?
I'll play along for fun.
Often times, ISU's first game is Saturday night, while opens with an 11 AM kickoff. That was obviously intentionally done so Iowa could get a few extra hours' prep.
Who is the fat slob in your avatar? Is that you?
It’s customary to have a two week prep for the Super Bowl.I can see it both ways. The only thing we know for certain is that whoever loses (the fan base) will use it as an excuse.
Iowa: plays Miami OH and Rutgers before ISU. Two games under their belt that should be fairly straightforward W’s. Assuming no significant injuries (never a safe assumption), that’s two weeks of tape to review, improve, etc. But also two weeks for ISU to scout.
Iowa State: plays UNI then has a week off before UI. That’s one less week of tape for Iowa but also one less week for Iowa State. Biggest improvement generally from week 1 to week 2, but is there such thing as too much time off this early in the season?
I honestly don’t know and could be convinced either way. Don’t know that we’ll ever really get the answer no matter what happens, but curious as to your thoughts.
Cheers!

We all know why there is a bye right? Big 10 wanted a conference game and moved Iowa's game vs. ISU.
I don't have the exact stats but teams coming off a bye in September win about 50% of the time. See tweet from @cfbmatrix (strong analytics guy, best I've seen)

W/L % coming off a September by is a coin flip. Gets better in October then steps up to its best winning percentage in November.

Just say no to drugsya know how sometimes a collective family is just ridiculous in their decision making but mixed in is a diamond in the rough but that diamond still has residual issues because of the fleas from the other family members.
well thats what it is like to play iowa. we get fleas. especially when we have to go to the cattle prodding barn.
I thought I heard CMC actually likes the bye week. Maybe I heard wrong.Better without the bye, what Campbell prefers also. He believes the players get distracted and motivation is hard to hold for two weeks. What we have to deal with so it is what it is.
But Pollard had since the fall of 2013 to fill week 2 if he wanted to.
thank youSure. And he also had to deal with the opponent's schedule. If they wanted to schedule ULA, maybe they had a game that weekend. It's an extremely stupid and narcissistic argument. The world doesn't revolve around the hawkeyes.
Just say no to drugs
No, it’s the best OC in the state of Iowa.
