Schedule advantage before the game: UI or ISU?

I can see it both ways. The only thing we know for certain is that whoever loses (the fan base) will use it as an excuse.

Iowa: plays Miami OH and Rutgers before ISU. Two games under their belt that should be fairly straightforward W’s. Assuming no significant injuries (never a safe assumption), that’s two weeks of tape to review, improve, etc. But also two weeks for ISU to scout.

Iowa State: plays UNI then has a week off before UI. That’s one less week of tape for Iowa but also one less week for Iowa State. Biggest improvement generally from week 1 to week 2, but is there such thing as too much time off this early in the season?

I honestly don’t know and could be convinced either way. Don’t know that we’ll ever really get the answer no matter what happens, but curious as to your thoughts.

Cheers!

We play the schedule that is put in front of us . . . . heard that a billion times a few years back from a certain fan base.

Better without the bye, what Campbell prefers also. He believes the players get distracted and motivation is hard to hold for two weeks. What we have to deal with so it is what it is.

I thought I just listened to an interview with Campbell and he said he prefers this setup with the early bye and it's how they would always setup the scheduling at mount union? I could be wrong here, but swear he said something to that affect.

I’d prefer to have our bye week later in the season when there will actually be guys who are banged up and need the recovery. Other than that no excuses for either team this year.

You are correct. Campbell said he loved the placement of the bye week there.

If anybody thinks that JP is going to give the Hawks a scheduling advantage they are totally delusional. Maybe it's not the players, coaches and fans Superbowl but it's sure as hell his.
Lol.
Last year’s advantage for Iowa, although very significant, was due to a cancellation. J.P. certainly cares about using this game to sell tickets, but no one prioritizes the CyHawk like the Iowa football program.

Being in Game 3 for Iowa vs Game 2 for ISU is an advantage for Iowa, but thankfully not as big as Game 2 vs Game 1 like last year

Going back and forth over who wants to win a game more is ridiculous. But until JP buys billboard space down the road from Stillwater, Norman, or Austin I'm going to have to believe this game holds some extra significance for him. I don't remember an instance where Iowa has ever scheduled a bye so early in the season. What other reason do you believe JP would have for scheduling one several times over the years right before the CYHAWK game?
