Schedule advantage before the game: UI or ISU?

I’ve never seen someone get so triggered so frequently in my life. You seem like you have serious anger issues- it’s the Internet dude, it’s not that serious. Relax before you give yourself a heart attack.

You should leave and never come back benj. Put that fake grad degree to use.

I don’t think an extra week of film on Iowa is going to help very much, because 1.) their game plans against Miami OH and Rutgers will be pretty vanilla, and 2.) Iowa doesn’t really do anything scheme wise that would surprise Iowa State. KF’s philosophy is essentially we don’t care if you know what we’re doing, we are going to out-execute you anyways.

but ... but ... New Kirk? :D

I can see it both ways. The only thing we know for certain is that whoever loses (the fan base) will use it as an excuse.

Iowa: plays Miami OH and Rutgers before ISU. Two games under their belt that should be fairly straightforward W’s. Assuming no significant injuries (never a safe assumption), that’s two weeks of tape to review, improve, etc. But also two weeks for ISU to scout.

Iowa State: plays UNI then has a week off before UI. That’s one less week of tape for Iowa but also one less week for Iowa State. Biggest improvement generally from week 1 to week 2, but is there such thing as too much time off this early in the season?

I honestly don’t know and could be convinced either way. Don’t know that we’ll ever really get the answer no matter what happens, but curious as to your thoughts.

Cheers!
Campbell says that he loves the week 2 bye so ISU has no excuses. He seemed genuine about it. If an ISU fan ******* about he/she is wrong.

Last year's situation was a legitimate advantage for Iowa. I KNEW we'd lose that game when I was walking to the car after the "rainout". Told my kid as much. She doesn't apprecriate my negativity even when I'm right.

I love the use of the totally non-arbitrary cutoff of top 100 so that you can include Illinois and Miami OH (numbers 100 and 101) and exclude Kansas and UNI (numbers 91 and 94). Nicely done!

Meh...100 is a good, round number.

Its not like he picked 95 to do what you are saying above.

Better without the bye, what Campbell prefers also. He believes the players get distracted and motivation is hard to hold for two weeks. What we have to deal with so it is what it is.
Campbell has said pretty much the opposite of what you just stated. I'd love to see your source because he's a politician if he truly said that.

i think they have to only way we can stop the bruising running attack. iowa is the only power run team we play all year even though i suppose texas is the next closest and not surprising we struggle against texas. the bubble zone or whatever you want to call it usually doesnt even see the light of day till after the iowa game but we will probably see it against uni and dropped against iowa.

I disagree with this. ISU's 3 man front didn't have a lot of problems with stopping the running game last year. In fact, the short passing game is what hurt them most. They will play some 4-3 or 4-2-5, but the 3-3-5 is their base defense and they are going to use that unless it isn't effective.

I also disagree that iowa is the only power running game that ISU will face. KSU is a power running team. TCU and UT are power spreads with running QBs.

The old JP trick was to schedule a Thursday night game week one to give his team 2 extra days before the week 2 game with the Hawks. That was absolutely intentional.

Ok...so how many times has ISU scheduled a Thursday night game in week one?

I'll play along for fun.

Often times, ISU's first game is Saturday night, while opens with an 11 AM kickoff. That was obviously intentionally done so Iowa could get a few extra hours' prep.

Really can't disagree with this.

Zone read stretch run of some sort, followed by bootleg or step back with occasional variants from either.
