Root for the Conference?

I'm rooting for the conference, especially the likes of Tx and WVU, whose brand of thuggery I love to see other people struggle with.

The further WVU goes, the better chances that someone will eventually start calling them on the fouls they commit.

I won't necessarily cheer hard for the other teams in any particular game, but, the Big12 needs a good performance to maintain its tag as the best conference. As an ISU fan, I think that does matter.

On a big 10 note, the more I hear from Izzo the harder it is to root against that guy.

Cheering for the conference except KU and Texas (First Round). If Texas beats UNI, then I cheer for them rest of the way.

I really don't care at all. I'm always for Kansas losing, but I have been hearing so much on here and from other people I know who are Iowa fans, how the Big 12 isn't really that good and it will show in the tournament, it would be nice for us to send at least a couple to the round of 16 and beyond.

I've always said, if ISU isn't in the final 4, but KU and OU are, what does that say about ISU? Nothing, so I don't give a ****. But it would be nice to not hear about how much better the Big 10 is than the Big 12, especially living here in Big 10 country.

Was already told today by a guy at the gym how the Big 10 got screwed by the committee and that the Big 12 was soft and highly over rated. He did at least say that he only watched 2 Big 12 games this year, OU vs. KU and he saw our game in the B12 tourney vs. OU, so he definitely knows his Big 12 basketball.

Personally I don't really care what any team outside of Iowa State does in the tournament. However it is nice for the conference to have a strong showing to validate the SOS of the Big 12 and the conference strength. If the conference has a strong showing, great. If the rest of the conference gets bounced in the first weekend, oh well.

We are a 4 seed with 11 losses this year. We are a 4 seed after being a 6 seed in a 10 team conference tournament. Our conference perception couldn't be stronger right now and we have not performed well as a conference in the NCAA's for a while

This. I worry about us. Yeah, the conference makes us money the further they go....I get that side of the coin. But really, how does that help ISU down the road if another program makes it further than us? Their success helps them to continue to get better and better recruits/more constant publicity/etc...

Iowa State needs to do better than all of them to get better recruits/transfers/etc... down the road.

Big 12 teams winning obviously promotes the strength of the conference. I wouldn't mind seeing Oklahoma do well due to playing style, tolerance of basketball fans and watching buddy. Can't stand watching WVU or Kansas.

Yes. Except for UNI/Texas.

One, I'm a UNI grad and love the Panthers.

I always root for the conference. It is self defeating not to. If we don't win it all, I would be happy to see Kansas or Oklahoma win it all.

Yeah, but competition is supposed to make you better. I think ISU has enough tradition and fan support they need to stay ahead of the pack. No matter what. Maybe not Kansas or Texas, but the rest? Yes. (Smart will have Texas rolling soon IMO).

Do you cheer against Big 12 teams in the College World Series? Wrestling Nationals? Bowl games? WhTF would you root against them in the NCAA's? I cheer for Kansas in the NCAA's. I'm not ashamed to say that. I root like hell for them to lose in every Big 12 game though. I'm rooting for UNI only because I'm a grad. And I can't stand Texas (even though I'd cheer for them otherwise :unsure

I tend to lose a great deal of interest when Iowa State loses. With that said, I do hope the rest of the conference does well. Otherwise, we have to sit through all the talking heads jabbing about how the Big 12 was overrated, blah, blah, blah.
