Root for the Conference?

We are a 4 seed with 11 losses this year. We are a 4 seed after being a 6 seed in a 10 team conference tournament. Our conference perception couldn't be stronger right now and we have not performed well as a conference in the NCAA's for a while
 
I tend to lose a great deal of interest when Iowa State loses. With that said, I do hope the rest of the conference does well. Otherwise, we have to sit through all the talking heads jabbing about how the Big 12 was overrated, blah, blah, blah.
 
I cheer for the conference always in non-con and posteseason, only team I cheer against is Kansas during the conference season and conference tournament. If I had to pick another team I hate seeing do well, it's WVU.

And yet there has been much gnashing of teeth among the pundits that Iowa State got "overseeded". (Is that a word? I dunno) By performing well under these brightest of lights, it tends to validate what the committee has done.

Personally, I think we deserve our seed. We've managed to beat a #1 and a #2 despite being undermanned and shorthanded much of the year.
 
I ALWAYS root for the conference - I find it dumb when people root against the BIG 12. That just does not make any sense. I want to see an elite 8 with Kansas, Baylor v. Oklahoma, WVU and ISU.
 
Yes, root for:
Iowa State
Oklahoma
Baylor
Texas Tech
Texas

No, don't root for:
Kansas
West Virginia
 
I'll pull for all our conference mates but won't lose any sleep if they all choke. Hell I'll even be pulling for KU and picked them to win it all in my first bracket. I can understand ISU fans not liking their fans for the most part because I'm right there with ya but don't get the hate for Self and the team.
 
I'm rooting for the Big 12 this year. Really Brannan Greene is the only player i truly dislike in the league. Watching WV is always fun and i wouldnt mind seeing Buddy go on a run
 
I typically root for who I like, but it's getting to the point where another terrible tourney performance would reflect pretty badly on the conference.

Yeah, if Big 12 tanks in the tournament in a season like this, I have no faith it'll ever be dangerous, overall, outside of KU, despite "Top Conference" hype year after year.

Should have, at minimum:
1 Final Four team (honestly ought to be able to get 2)
2 Elite 8 (3 should be possible)
4 Sweet 16 (KU, OU, WVU, Baylor/ISU/Texas — 5 isn't impossible, either, but seeds won't hold in every case, so probably unrealistic)
--> And shouldn't be too much to expect at least national runner-up.

And it isn't like the bracket-paths are overly daunting for the high-end teams.

This. I worry about us. Yeah, the conference makes us money the further they go....I get that side of the coin. But really, how does that help ISU down the road if another program makes it further than us? Their success helps them to continue to get better and better recruits/more constant publicity/etc...

Iowa State needs to do better than all of them to get better recruits/transfers/etc... down the road.

Rah rah **** for the conference baffles me sometimes. **** Kansas, hope they lose their first game.

This. And would root for Kansas over the Mad Franners.

A little torn about West Virginia. Seems like they get to the tourney and actually get fouls called against them and flame out, but then back to business as usual in the conference and give the other teams a bunch of losses that wouldn't happen if a foul was a foul in the Big 12.
 
I root for all Big 12 teams. I get tired of Iowa and Big 10 fans talking about how the Big 12 blows up every year in the tournament.
 
Big 12 to meet expectations needs the following:

Round of 64 (6-1)
Round of 32 (4-2)
Round of 16 (2-2)
Round of 8 (1-1)
Final Four (0-1)

If the Big 12 gets to 13-7 and has a team in the Final Four then it will validate this conference as being the best in the nation.
 
I'm rooting for the conference, especially the likes of Tx and WVU, whose brand of thuggery I love to see other people struggle with.
