Roll Call - Kinnick Stadium

I will be there, Iowa City / Ames during the cy-hawk series are my favorite places to be. Love the hostility. But I'm also a student who loves to yell obnoxiously

Funny but true story; I've been called a goat-f***ing farmer by an Iowa doosh while one of his friends was wearing a black and gold ANF shirt. I was born and raised in Iowa City, far from any farm. Not sure where this goon was from.

well my parents are goat ******* farmers. they milk 300 head twice a day.

3 kids to ISU and 1 Iowa fan.

why do goat farmers get dragged into this every time.............

This is like any other stadium. You go around the young kids who have been drinking a lot and you might just get some verbal garbage as I am sure there will be some bringing up UNI to those wearing the cardinal. Sure there are some Iowa fans who want to run their traps, but they don't represent the majority of us. If you go to the game in Ames or Iowa City, most of what I have witnessed is Iowa and ISU fans intermingled at tailgates and having a good time. The times I have been at the game in Ames I have never had an issue, but I have not wandered into certain areas where I know I might not be as welcome.

Zach is your typical Iowa fan. Didn't go there to school, but jumped on the bandwagon as a kid. For people like him, if ISU had just happened to be the best team in the state when they were young, they would be ISU fans now. They have no allegiances to Iowa at all.

What does it matter if he went to school there or not? He is a fan. You didn't play for an NFL team or MLB team but you probably follow a team and are a fan. Doesn't mean anything less. Not everyone goes on to school for one and even when they do it may be that a different school is the best fit rather than the one he was a fan of growing up.

I do know the only time I have ever had a car keyed was in Iowa City on a gameday week while at a wedding. I was super duper happy with that.

If you don't look for trouble, you won't find trouble in IC. Just my experience and 2 cents.

Depends what you consider trouble. I agree you're not going to get into a fight or anything unless you ask for it but I've never looked for trouble and still been harassed and have seen some pretty interesting things said in front of small children over there. I saw an ISU fan get full beer cans thrown at them just walking through Olive Court back in the day.

I went to the Iowa - Purdue game last year by the invitation of a good friend. It is the first and last time I will ever step foot in Kinnick Stadium unless ISU is playing. The Iowa fans threw ice and snowballs at Purdue's cheerleaders. It was so bad the officials had to stop the game and make a public service announcement to cease the barrage. I saw two cheerleaders get injured with a female needing medical assistance off the field. What a national disgrace on television.
I was also at that game and witnessed what you're talking about. What I thought was more shameful is that Iowa was absolutely destroying Purdue but every time Beathard had a small mistake, the fans were all over him like stink on ****.

When I went to my first game at Kinnick 2 years ago, all I was doing was walking to the stadium when a bunch of wasted kids decided they were going to push me out onto the street a spit on me. I will never go back.

I have been there for a couple football games and a basketball games. For the basketball game I got coffee thrown at me from a car while I was walking on the street.

I was wearing a beat Iowa shirt for a football game and a student wearing a Beat State shirt said to me as I walked by "Original Shirt F**"

That being said if you arent looking for trouble it should be fine. I have a lot of good friends who are Iowa friends treat people great.

If you cant handle a little ribbing, being an ISU fan probably isnt for you.

There are a lot of Iowa fans - not a majority, but definitely more than enough to be funny - who will mock "Moo U" in the same breath that they say "ANF." The irony, unsurprisingly, is lost on them.

I've been going to games in Ames and Iowa City every year for about 10 years.. I've yet to see a single mean thing done to either fan base in either location. Rivalry aside, you're in the state of Iowa.. 99% of people will treat you well (outside of some good natured ribbing) and their will be a 1% (in Ames or Iowa City) that are idiots. Anything else is exaggeration.

Last year there was of fight right in front of our camper right after game. My mom broke it up. It was between two Hawkeye fans. So take that for what you will...

I will never attend a game there. I realize the rivalry brings out the crappy side in some fans and I've seen fellow Clone fans act like asses but for some reaso it seems like a majority of the Hawk fans I've been around are straight up douche bags. Why can't I go watch a game and root for the team I love without being called every name in the book and even threatened to fight!? I'll be honest, I hate most Hawk fans but I will never talk trash to any of them because that's not me and they are there to enjoy the game and their team. It just doesn't seem to be the other way around and that's sad.
