RECRUITING: New Isaiah Stokes information

That's exactly what I was talking about...he refers to Stokes as a signee.

Commas? Ain't nobody got time for that...

No, it was a poorly worded tweet, but that's not what he is saying. He is listing some of the things they will be talking about. They will be talking about the new signees AS WELL AS Stokes and Lard.

Signing a NLI essentially binds you to that school, the only way you can get release is if you forgo a year of eligibility (essentially transferring). So, the 3 players that signed with us this past week, are now officially signed with Iowa State. The difference between a commitment and a signed recruit is that a verbal commitment holds no weight. A person can verbally commit and de-commit as many times as they would like, without any penalty to their eligibility. So if you get a player to sign their NLI it is the ink drying on their commitment. People want Stokes to sign because it means we will have 4 recruits coming for sure, and we can focus more time on our transfer/JuCo recruits. Stokes could very well verbally commit on Thursday, but it won't be nearly as important as a commtment and signing of the NLI on Wednesday, because we would have to wait until the Spring to get him to officially sign.

All of that is correct. However, if a recruit wants out of his NLI, he will get out of it. Otherwise Prohm will catch hell from Bilas, Gottlieb, and others about being unfair. With that said, if there is suspected tampering from schools then we could put some restrictions on the release. But in general a kid could still renege on his signing (commitment).

Maybe not as good as last year's Morris, Thomas, Nader, Niang, and McKay tho.... but time will tell I guess.

I just think it would be awesome to have the pairing of Stokes & Solomon Young and have a front-court that can physically matchup with the likes of Baylor and West Virginia. I don't think we've had a physical tandem like that since the days of Damion Staple/Jared Homan

I would hope that lineup is better than last year's squad. That was a good team, but not great. Terrible interior defense and rebounding. The run to the sweet 16 made the season look better than it was, and that was through 2 mid major squads. Not knocking that team. Just didn't Have the athletes in the paint it needed. I'd expect more out of the 17' class.

I don't know about that....guess I'd be happy if we end up with a line up with the likes of a Morris, Niang, Nader, McKay (minus the drama) combination BUT of course with more depth so they didn't need to play worrying about foul trouble or playing 38 minutes. Morris & Niang might be the best pick & roll duo we've had play here.

When you think back on the signings of Monte and Georges, I don't think anyone thought their careers would go the way they have. Next year's class is rater higher and is more athletic than those previous classes. Excited about where the program is currently at as well as where it's headed.

So today's the last day to sign in the early period...
I put together my Iowa State gris gris for today.

Anybody have any of Stokes' personal items to contribute? No... that's not creepy.

We dodged a huge bullet last year when Little Rocked knocked off Purdue. They would have been a really bad match up for us.
