Agreed. This turns into a massive fail if you end up with CU and a G5.We will not pick a G5 school.
So do people in the northeast just look at leaves on Saturdays in the fall or what? They don’t watch their teams play college football and I think it would be a little brisk to go to the ocean. Clean up the trawler maybe?

Another reason they will not be taken this round. And when it comes around to considering ACC teams, whenever they break, many of them might/will be considered more heavily than UCONN, by the Big 12.All I'm going to say is... replace "UConn" with "Rutgers" and "Big 12" with "Big 10" and that's what everyone was saying 12 years ago. Fast forward to now, and in retrospect almost everyone regrets bringing Rutgers into the conference. Perhaps not quite as much as Nebraska, but the regret is real.
I will say this, though, in regards to UConn - they actually do have a following for both their men's and women's basketball teams, and the fact that their football team has no following is because they perpetually suck, so maybe if they turn it around they can be credible at the P3 level. I'm just saying - promoting a school to an upper tier conference and assuming their sports programs will step up the challenge does not always work, and we have real and recent examples of that.
They get a full share of the $32 million in 2024. Not sure if they had exit fees.I can't remember. CINN, UCF, Houston . Partial share? For how long?
It was his arm but I see this developing into they Shot Cy in the back and it becomes the major reason why UConn didn't get in.Take Arizona and stop.
**** the ducks. They will be league prima donnas when we finally have all those programs jettisoned from the conference.
**** UConn. They broke Cy’s leg.
Originally, I was right there with you.UW and Oregon make me nervous. Probably illogical, but I feel like they'll be a pain in the ass and too good for us.
The rest of the 4 corners can fit right in with us and it feels like we'd be stable forever and ever.
Agreed. This turns into a massive fail if you end up with CU and a G5.
It's interesting watching schools that have not done this before like Washington that have no clue how any of this works.I did a road trip this weekend and downloaded several podcasts.
Small sample but a stark difference between the Oregon talking head (Spencer McLaughlin) vs. Washington talking heads (Trevor Mueller and Jake Grant).
Both effectively said:
"We would be one of the best teams in the Big 12 (if not dominate) because we are the best off the Pac"
"Colorado, the football team loss - eh"
"Colorado, the school defection - yikes (but that does not kill the PAC)"
Oregon, however, said:
"The only options are 1) join the Big 12 who has it going on or 2) HOPE that the PAC 9-12 figures it out."
"I wish for the PAC but can get on board with the Big 12 - they are trendy and hip"
Washington's talking heads are clueless:
They think Nebraska is still in the Big 12.
They think West Virginia is one of the best three schools in the Big 12.
The think a Big 10 or SEC invite is coming instead of an offer from the Big 12.
They seem to think a merger of the best of Big 12 and PAC is going to happen if the offer from the Big 10 or SEC does not happen.
Oregon Podcast (Locked on Ducks)
Washington Podcast (4th and Inches)
Give me Oregon first, AZ second. I'll trust BY to figure out the third.
Washington can enjoy the new Mountain West.
They get a partial share this year 2023, then full share 2024. They're doing fine.I can't remember. CINN, UCF, Houston . Partial share? For how long?
Fans regret inviting Rutgers. But I'd bet the Big10 Commissioner and President are 100% OK.All I'm going to say is... replace "UConn" with "Rutgers" and "Big 12" with "Big 10" and that's what everyone was saying 12 years ago. Agree, to take UCONN you have to know what the ratings actually are for basketball (we don't, BY might), what the next NCAA tourney contract might look like (we don't, BY might have an idea), and if basketball breaks away from the NCAA and stops letting all the basketball money go to the NCAA, thereby changing the math on basketball additions (we don't know that, BY might).Another reason they will not be taken this round. So if UCONN does somehow make it into the Big 12 now, or even later, it will likely be BY's doing and his forward thinking. Maybe he sees something there that we don't or can't. So far, his leadership is hard to argue with.
USC mad cause we had dare FB unis! [or did] Dat's it.It seemed like it was USC, Cal, Stanford and to a lesser degree Washington that viewed the Big 12 as inferior brands.

He prob has a lot more info on what a basketball powerhouse is worth in 10 years than anyone else. I find it odd nobody puts out numbers on basketball games, yet ESPN shows it 24/7. Odd. It's almost certainly undervalued, by how much, hard to say.
BY also has the information that only P5 additions get guaranteed the $31.7 million payment from ESPN and Fox. University Presidents know they get less money than $31.7 million if they add G5 UConn. Those are the numbers you need to know. That is why discussion of adding G5 UConn is absurd. BY used UConn to motivate Pac12 schools that need to make a decision that the clock is ticking.
Nobody is going to take less to take UConn obviously. But It all depends, if ESPN wants to throw in 5m and fox throws in 5, and UConn would be good with that for this contract..,then maybe they do it. Sure it's a long shot...it's just what UConn would take vs what the networks will pay for uconn.BY also has the information that only P5 additions get guaranteed the $31.7 million payment from ESPN and Fox.
