Cheap baby sitting? Yes

Large inheritance? That's a funny one!

The third doesn't even deserve to be retyped. I got the cream of the crop out of that family.

If you are not totally thrilled with your job, or tied to it like me, and you are unhappy I’d move.

If you are even considering it, do it while the kids are in elementary at oldest. After that, you will feel a little tied down to let them graduate.

I am mostly just playing my best teenage girl and venting without getting to the point. After at least three months of it being on the radar and at least a month of knowing what ticket prices would be and several days after booking a hotel my parents no longer are interested in going to a Cubs @ Cards game with us because it is "too expensive". Always has and always will drive me up the wall. Sure yeah when they were deep in debt and were not making much money when we were kids I would buy that. Now that they are well past debt free, my dad makes a good salary and they won't spend $160 total on an afternoon at a Cubs game with their son, DIL and grand kids? As I emailed this morning I am just taking this as a notification that they won't be joining us at Disney in a couple of years like we had invited them to.

Parents can be strange. We know one couple, both from neighboring towns and still live in one, and when her parents retired they moved two hours away and never come back for any grandkid stuff. Kids are fairly successful athletically and he’s an old coach and AD, but they won’t come back. Some are scared to spend a penny and some can’t spend that money soon enough.

My wife’s folks used to pay for everything when we’d go somewhere. Then about 6-7 years ago it kinda flipped where we always paid or went complete Dutch. Unless the BIL and his family was with and then we would pay ours and FIL picked up the rest. Realized after his death that the BIL was peeing away money and the FIL was helping him even though him and his wife are pulling 120k+. This is a guy who lost a farm, and after selling it, went out and bought vehicles, boats, and other personal stuff while his dad was still supporting him. Parents can do odd stuff.

Families in general can be strange. This means we are the normal ones right? ;)

Mostly due to what we are starting to believe is some kind of mild mental disability or at the very least a chronic mental condition my parents help my sister with a LOT and pretty much do everything but live her life for her. Then when I call up and ask if they want to have our son sleep over some night it is a big charade of well let me ask your dad and this and that. Cut that crap out we all know that at most you are going to go to a fish fry that you could take him with so answer the question yes or no.

Meanwhile my in laws routinely call to see if they can do stuff with us, take LittleWx places etc. Not to mention the rest of the week after St Louis we will be with her entire family in Branson and they are paying for our condo, a couple of shows and a pontoon one day.

Not trying keep up with the Jones's but I just gave up a job opportunity so you could be in your grand kids life. Take advantage.

Damn I am on a roll today...

Come up for Twins/Yankees and I'll sit with you. Although, even as old as I am, I cannot be sure I have the chops or bonafides to play surrogate grandfather. I am more of a part time long distance uncle type who doesn't totally get kids but tolerates them well enough.

Can even provide vintage Homer Hankies.

Really dislike the friendly sign here. A heart just seems wrong for me to put anywhere, but don’t want to thumb up something that may seem mean.

Yea, I find the pink heart a little odd myself for the friendly rating.

I rarely use it although I just did. It seems like the use is for something you kinda sympathize with or understand but like or agree is as wrong as dislike.

We really need an @GTO JFC emoticon thing.

We are debating going back up there for another game this year. Last year when we went up we biked over to Omni brewing on Saturday and then went to the game on Sunday. That game was also part of the reason why my parents won't be coming to the Cubs @ Cards game. The tickets we had in MN were $60 for maybe 15-20 rows back behind the dugout. $60 in STL for a Cubs weekend is good enough to get you the nose bleeds.

This year I want to go kayaking though so we will see. Also saw on FB some bike ride thing in Minnetonka so I have that on my radar as well.

Was going through some stuff in the basement last weekend and found mine, too. I was in attendance for Game 1 of the 1991 Series - what an experience.

These guys are visiting Z's preschool tomorrow to put on a concert:

Not sure I approve of the pro-Nebraska propaganda in that video. If Z's original teacher wasn't on maternity leave, I think I'd send her a "complaint."
We've seen a few of their videos. They do look really entertaining for kids. I would assume they probably don't do too much Pro-Nebraska when they're not in Nebraska.

Have tentative plans for an alumni group to ride the 35 or the 48 mile option of the Tour de Tonka on August 4th. The 48 would be long for me while one of my kid alumni friends said "oh, that would be a nice cooldown distance after RAGBRAI."
