Twin Cities Peeps hope you and your houses are all ok sounds like it got crazy for a while up there.
Our house avoided the worst of it but about 1.5 miles away people lost power for about 12 hours. Also many trees torn apart and uprooted. One of our friends is hosting a grad party next weekend. Here is what they discovered after the storm.

Can't dislike this idea enough. Ugh.
Someone turn on a giant fan outside or something.

EDIT: With that, it reminds me of a quick run past some windmills this weekend. Hearing them as you run by, it's like they say "go, go, go, go, go."
Oh, yeah - I was thinking about you out there running this weekend. Glad you survived it!

Thanks!
Also, thanks for the weather update. Z and I are heading to Hy-Vee to do some recovery snack shopping and get some aloe to deal with the mild sunburns that happened.

Missed the same spot on each shoulder Friday for consistent failure. Time to fix my mistake.
Looks like Z will not be farther than 3 inches from me today.

Back from Hy-Vee.
Found the aloe with some help. Helper pointed out the Band-aids at Z's eye level, which she had already found. She's got 2 princesses on her legs right now.

Then she chased me through the store yelling "Baby is chasing you, Daddy! Baby is going to catch you!"

A smile in every aisle, indeed.

9:29 PM - Did you survive, old lady?

6:12 AM - Somehow. Didn't leave the bathroom floor all day yesterday.
Isn't it odd how on your 21st birthday your friends take you out and try to kill you via alcohol poisoning?
Years ago a young lady that worked for me went to Des Moines with her friends to celebrate her 21st. They had to stop at about 1am for her to get out of the car to throw up and they got tired of waiting and just left her in someones yard. She fortunately was aware enough of the situation and went to the house for help. They let her in and she had to call her boyfriend to come down and get her. Lucky for here those were some really nice people. I couldn't believe it when she told me that story the next week.

New experience on the Relay this year:

The allergy stuff appeared in my favorite pair of shorts before running Saturday morning. Anyone driving just a few miles outside of Stratford (though there wasn't anyone) around 5 AM would have had nice view of me changing my pants on the shoulder of the road.

Later travellers would have seen me applying lotion to places or Biofreeze to a mildly strained muscle. Many new things happened right behind the truck on Saturday with me and my pants.

Sunday became the first run where I ever stopped to pee. Hopefully, I picked the right spot. I can't really imagine a public urination ticket coming my way from Dyersville. I don't think that place is camera'd up.

Kind of reminds me of the Duluth college student who was out drinking and her friend dropped her off way drunk at her home. They didn't wait around to see if she made it inside safely and she ended up spending the night on a neighbor's stoop in well below zero weather because she was so out of it she tried to get in the wrong house. She almost froze to death and lost all of her fingers.

Who doesn't make sure a person makes it inside before leaving? I even do that in the summer.

Those are some really ****** friends and I hope she has since distanced herself from them.

The whole 21st birthday binge-fest is really stupid, but I doubt it goes away. Life is full of really stupid decisions, especially around that age. My go-to advice is to always try to bring along one friend that will at least look out for you to prevent something really bad from happening.

My 21st was somewhat low key since I was living in Omaha with my then-fiance instead of surrounded by my friends at ISU. Plus, my birthday was on a Wednesday and I was in the middle of an internship and wasn't about to screw that up.

My brother-in-law did take me out the following weekend and it was really ugly. I'm not a shot guy and that was pretty much all I drank that night. However we just stuck to a couple of bars, we had a DD, and my fiance had my back.

I drank way more illegally, than I have since then.

I like the changes in weather. That was one of the reasons I decided we could never live in Vegas. Different levels of hot all year and we may get an inch of rain in August. F that. Give me hot, cold, rain, snow, floods, tornadoes. I don't wish anyone to get hurt. I just want change.

Exactly. Every place has something about their weather that I wouldn't like year-round (with possibly Hawaii being the exception). My wife thinks I'm crazy when I tell her that I like the seasons.
