Raising Canes Sucks

Every time I see this thread, I want to bust out singing.

I was justified when I was five
Raising cane, I spit in your eye
Times are changing now the poor get fat
But the fever's gonna catch you when the ***** gets back...

My Fast food Chicken strip ranking

In the rest of your life do you enjoy lots of flavors or do you wish the ONE sauce was life’s only flavor everywhere?

If you couldn’t have the ONE sauce and had to eat Canes dry would you still like that their chicken is not seasoned?

Genuine questions. No sarcasm. Appreciate any insight into the mono-flavor lifestyle.
I guess if you want something other than what they have you go somewhere else.

I agree I would like it better if they had more than 1 sauce, but I know that they dont so dont expect it.

And I think some would like them to have a spicy chicken, to go along with their plain but again they have basically 1 main menu item in different capacities. So, I guess yeah it would be nice if they had both styles but then it would be nice if had a burger too, but they dont, and its not what they do, so I get it.

Personally I am fine with what they offer, because I know what they have and dont have, and if I want something different I go somewhere else. If I want spicy chicken I go somewhere they have it.

If I want McDs chicken nuggets and sweet and sour sauce I go to McDs, and dont expect to get that when I go to Freddy's.

I also dont expect to get lobster tail when I go to long john silvers either.

Basically you dont go to a hotdog stand and expect a burger, then be mad when they dont have burgers.

In this day and age it doesnt seem like there is a shortage of restaurant choices. Many times if you dont like/want what one has you can literally go across the street for something else.

I don’t like Bloomin Onion sauce, and since their chicken and fries really aren’t that seasoned or juicy it’s almost entirely inedible to me unless I brought it home and added some good bbq sauce of my own. I have one near me and the price is great. I like the idea of places with very limited menus and advertising keeping down price.

If someone really wanted Bloomin Onion sauce for dinner, but wants to feed the whole family for $30 instead of $100, I imagine it’s the absolute perfect place to go.

I’d be genuinely shocked if anyone ate a chicken strip without sauce from CFA and thought it was worse. It has to be people love that sauce. Nobody likes bland chicken.

Really I always thought hardees and Arbys strips were very similar, maybe it is location dependent.

Culvers is ok, but I hate that they insist on putting salt on everything out of the fryer. I dont like salt on my cheese balls, onion rings or strips, and for a Wisconsin brand I wish there cheeseballs were more the wisconsin style. And I get that you can ask for no salt but always forget to, because most places dont do that. But overall Culvers is pretty far down my list when choosing a place to eat. I feel there are better places to get pretty much everything on their menu.

see the video above your post.
sure, they basically grind up the entire chicken and put it in there.
Its the scraps from the floor, just like spam is.

Sure I dont mind eating that crap, but if I had to choose between RC chick fingers or MCds chick nuggets, no wey I would choose the McDs.

They are not even in the same ballpark when you talk quality and taste.

I eat frozen pizza too, but that doesnt mean it is close to as good as getting it from a pizza place, any pizza place.

Young kids have a tendency to not like spicy chicken. So they went with no spice. No BBQ sauce on Chicken Tenders. Hidden Valley Ranch if no Canes Sauce. I’ll feed the whole family for $30. If I am spending $100 I am not eating fast food.

My family was in Louisville for a wedding over New Years and a nephew told us this fast chicken restaurant was worth visiting. I don’t know if it’s a southern chain, but it was excellent!

Portillos started as a hot dog stand and they have my favorite fast food hamburger in the country! My wife gets pissed when I order a burger at the Davenportillos, which isn’t half as good as one of the Chicagoland stores.

Didn't expect this thread to swerve into "back in my day" territory, and somehow not liking fast food chicken makes us spoiled children, but this is CF after all.

I go to all of these chicken places for the sauces, so I guess put me in the sauce restaurant advocacy group. Don't really care about the chicken, it's all just sauce boats for my palate.

I like it, but I like about everything. It’s fast food where you get a lot of calories and legitimate meat for a decent price. If you like the sauce it’s solid.

Not related, but for Ames people if you like authentic Mexican, check out Rincincito Hispano in Northern lights where there have been a few restaurants rotate through. It is legit - birrias tacos w consume. Bet there’s over half a lb of slow cooked beef in an order of tacos.

It's ok, not great but ok. I can't stand that sauce though but I did find out that you can ask for hot sauce and they'll give you some little packets of the Original Louisiana Hot sauce that on the chicken isn't bad.

I find RC to be ok. We have a regional chain called Chicken Express that I think is better than RC; CE has really good spicy tenders without the rubber effect. Then there is a DFW chain (I think they have 4 stores) called Luci's Chicken and Rice that has really good chicken strips as well.

There are a load of "chicken" fast food chains in DFW...RC, CE, El Pollo Loco, Golden Chic, Williams Chicken, Dave's Hot Chicken, Chick-fIl-A, Zaxby's, Chicken Pulita, Pollo Regio, Luci's, Popeyes, Wingstop...probably forgot some. There are also a number of mom-and-pop places that do exclusively chicken. I'm not sure how they can all survive.

Used to eat at El Pollo Loco all the time when I lived in Houston. Close to home and work. Plus, we referred to it as Los Pollos Hermanos, as Breaking Bad was winding down and the logo kind of looked similar.

My kids love Canes and my wife hates it. I was pretty indifferent, but on Saturday they talked my wife into stopping by there. It really isn't that good. The sauce is great, and the bread and coleslaw are good too. But the chicken is dry and the outside is almost grainy.

I will never not be amused by the fast food complaint threads.

Also, McDonalds spicy chicken just has mayo and it rocks. Chic fil a is mediocre.

Unfortunately not all Chick-fil-A's are created equally because they are all franchised. When I lived out on the east coats it was a well established chain and it was almost always terrible. The locations here in DSM are all outstanding and very consistent. I know one of the owners and they moved to Iowa to open a store so there is a high level of pride in ownership and overall quality. They continue to grow their business and the perks they receive for that are off the charts good.

When you have a chicken restaurant and your sauce is more famous than the chicken, you actually have a sauce restaurant. Cane’s chicken is an unflavorable piece of trash and only dousing it in mostly mayo makes it tolerable.

Same idea with these “spicy” chicken sandwiches from places like Popeyes and McDonald’s. You don’t have a spicy chicken sandwich, you have a ****** spicy sauce on top of chicken.

I tried them a few weeks ago because a new one opened in Johnston and I had high hopes, but I was disappointed. I prefer Slim Chickens if I'm going for "fast food chicken."

And another thing: We need to stop with the crappy ranch. Give me the real buttermilk **** and knock it off with the crap.
