Here is my boxer puppy, Tessa. We just got her a couple months ago and are SO happy with her! She can be super hyper but at the same time she is so loving. I am glad we waited until we had a house to get a dog--especially a boxer. We have a fenced-in back yard, which is great for a boxer pup. I would definetely recommend a boxer if you are looking for a bigger dog.

Thats a great looking boxer. They do get big, but they will always be a lap dog, even at 85 pounds.
Decide which breed you would like and then go to www.Petfinder.com.
Search for that breed. You will most likely find a dog - and if you are patient, probably even the puppy of your choice. You may have to drive a few miles to get it but it will cost a fraction of what a breeder charges and you will be saving a dog in the process.

Can't go wrong with a beagle. Great dogs. Mine chewed the **** out of everything for the first year, but she's been great every since.

We have a litter or two a year still...really happy with this group...all of them pretty good sized and full bellies all the time laying on their backs, it's pretty funny to see :smile:

I cant believe no one has mentioned my manly dog.
His name is Maxx and he doesn't fudge around.
He is a yorkie poo and is now 5 months old.
And that is a german shepard mix pup the same age as him.(3 months in the pics)

First, take stock of your life situation. Do you have the time and resources for a dog?
If you are going to get a puppy, you will need a lot of time for a month or so early on. If you are married and one of you is at home all the time, that's perfect. You have to get the dog house- trained and comfortable in it's new surroundings. Is there somewheree the dog can get recular exercise. Daily is best. Do you have a yard?
You may be an experienced dog owner and realize all this stuff, but maybe not. The pounds are full of nice dogs whose owners really didn't think it through, and it just didn't work out. Be sure you can really take care of the dog before you get it.

Do what we did when I was a kid - wait for a stray to show up at the farm, feed it, take care of it for a couple years until it gets run over, repeat.
just heard on the radio this morning that an estimated 55% of Americans have at least 1 pet. Get with the program buddy.
