Prediction Thread

I'm hoping the Clones improve mightily from week 1 to 2, and that Sims is ready to play well. I'll stand by my prediction of 16-14 ISU winning from the other thread. If we're going to pull an upset this year, I'm hoping it's this one.

No way, give me Nebraska...this year more than any. I don't think I've ever wanted another single game more.

I don't know why everyone thinks AA will cost ISU the game this week. Stanzi makes the same mistakes and could easily loose the game for Iowa. I agree that Iowa is going to have to turn the ball over for ISU to have a chance, but fortunately for the clones Stanzi is great at throwing picks. Plus factor in that the ISU defense is also really good at coming up with turnovers and you have an interesting equation brewing. I could see our underrated D-Line causing problems for Iowa's O line and forcing Stanzi back into his 2009 form.

This. ...and one more thing...
Iowa keeps opening up the season with these extremely weak teams. How are they suposed to know what they need to work on??? E. Ill. scored on that Defense... Stanzi still played into the 4th qtr, and you STILL couldn't cover the (easy) spread. If Iowa is thinking this is going to be a walk away win... it's going to be a long afternoon.

Almost EVERYONE opens the season with a cupcake, including YOU. That's right, Northern Illinois is a cupcake if you are any sort of a respectable BCS school.

Iowa won by 30. THIRTY!! They had a fumble on the 2 and ended the game on the 6. It was classic Ferentz, win but don't rub it in.

The game was never, ever in doubt. It was over after the first quarter.

Can you name how many games Stanzi has ever lost for Iowa because of him?

Wow... This post is completely full of FAIL

The difference is if Stanzi throws picks, he can bounce back, AA cannot. Pains me to say, but it's true. I really hope I'm wrong, 21-17 Iowa.

At times it seems like ISU gets too pumped up about this game, and goes out trying to do to much, and it costs them, most notably Arnaud.

But I do think we have a solid team, and we have a lot better chance to win next week than we did last year. It will be a better game than last year. Personally, I just hope for a good, close game, and hopefully an ISU win.

Iowa's good enough that they can win despite Stanzi when he's playing horrible. ISU can't with Arnaud, our room for error is much less

I'm sorry, a team that has been to four bowl games in six years and is predicted to go undefeated in their conference is a cupcake? :biglaugh: Sure it isn't Alabama but Christ's sake NIU would could probably beat up the bottom half of the Big Ten.

Am I supposed to be impressed that Iowa beat a 1AA school by thirty? ISU would have done about the same. In fact I was a little disappointed that Iowa's first national championship team couldn't put more points on the board against such an outmatched foe.

If you honestly don't know the difference between NIU and EIU I'm sorry for ripping you. But EIU would be NIU's JV squad.

Please explain.

Comparing Northern Illinois to Eastern Illinois and classifying both as cupcakes? If you really believe that EIU is on the same level as NIU you obviously know nothing about NCAA football.

Nobody here ever said that the game was in doubt or EIU was even in it. It probably shouldn't have taken til the end of the game to cover the spread as bad as EIU looked in that game so I will agree with the poster that said Iowa wasn't really tested so it's hard to really judge off this game.

and the whole "won by 30.. THIRTY" thing.... most people can read a scoreboard

Not off the top of my head, but I can think of some games they won despite his poor play. That's a credit to the talent around him. If he played for a middle of the road type team, no one would think much of him.

NIU beats EIU by 45 if they played; Spann runs for 250+ yards. Yes NIU is that much better than EIU! Your team had the cupcake, our team played a respectable team and beat them by two TDs and a FG. The SUI FB team has to play in a dogfight next weekend; don't you forget that!

21 - 17 ISU.. im sticking to my guns on this one all week. Iowa has the same DL from last year but new LB's. LB's who arent as good as last year's, and ISU was able to run for 190 yards at 5.4 ypc in the game last year. I'm not so sure that it will take a GREAT aerial attack to win this. It's going to be a grind it out game. I think AA limits his mistakes, and plays like the senior leader he is. Hawks lead most of the way, but 4th quarter drive capped by an AA run dragging defenders into the endzone like he always done puts us in front, then the hawks mount a typical late game drive and are about to score to win but Stanzi the panzy lofts one up for grabs and Sims comes up with a big play at the biggest time of the game and the cyclone defense bends but doesnt break, which is becoming a trademark of our team.

Lets get it clones.

I was talking about next week. If Stanzi throws picks ISU is going to have a decent chance to win. Same for Arnaud. Both QB's are capable of major screw ups and if Stanzi screws up worse the clones could come home with the cy-hawk.

Guys, if you buy a cupcake from Wal-Mart or Crumbs, it is still a cupcake.

NIU would beat up on the bottom half of the Big Ten?? LOL.

So you can't think of a single game he has lost? That is what I thought.

i'd say that the only game under stanzi that they lost BECAUSE of him was '08 at illinois... 11/29 with 2 ints. that game was ugly. But the truth has been that Iowa has won games in spite of Stanzi. Penn state last year? Special teams and Defense won that. Stanzi had 42% completion rate, less than 140 yards of offense and 2 picks. Indiana game last year? Indiana was up by 10 entering the 4th and unlucky at that due to Sash's fluke int/return for td when they were about to score. Stanzi completed just 50% and had 5 PICKS!! FIVE! they won IN SPITE of him. Or even the ISU game in 2008. Stanzi played the majority of the game and was just 5/14 with less than 100 yards, no td's and 2 ints. Yet Iowa's defense and special teams was good enough to get the win.

This year ISU is a pretty damn solid team and I dont think iowa can afford to try and win without a good game by ricky.
