I'll start with mine....

Iowa State will win if..... Austen Arnaud, for the first time in his career, has a good day against Iowa. From what we saw last week, I don't believe that ISU is going to run the ball with much success on Iowa's defensive front seven, which means they'll have to move the ball through the air. If that is the case, Arnaud will have to show he really can be patient and take what the defense gives him....even if ISU gets behind, Arnaud can't force things....we saw that show last season. Arnaud has never had a good game against Iowa, but if ISU is going to win, he has to have one this season.

Iowa will win if.... They don't turn the ball over. In a game with no turnovers, I don't see ISU winning. Last week, NIU ran the ball stronger as the game wore on due to ISU's lack of depth on the DL....that problem will only be worse this week. ISU will likely be strong against the run for the fist half, but as the game wears on, the Iowa OL will start to win the battle up front. I fully expect this to be a close game for a half...but in the second half Iowa's depth will start to wear on ISU. As long as Iowa doesn't give ISU any unnecessary breaks, Iowa will win this game.

What will happen..... Arnaud hasn't ever led an offensive scoring drive against Iowa. That is an amazing stat, but one that I think will change Saturday. Arnaud will get his first TD, but his emotion will get the better of him in 2nd half. Arnaud will throw 2 INT's, and that will be enough to cost ISU the game. ISU has to be +3 in the TO margin to win this one, in my opinion, and with Arnaud at QB for ISU, I don't see ISU getting to that point. Arnaud has thrown 8 INT's in his last two efforts against Iowa, I don't see him completely cleaning that up this season. Iowa will lead at halftime, but the lead will not be overwhelming. As the 2nd half wears on, Arnaud will throw a pick that will completely let the air out of the ISU sails. Iowa's OL will wear on the ISU DL (much like it did last season) and Iowa will pull away.

Final score prediction.... 31-13 Iowa

The gamebreaker will be.... The Jewel Hampton/Adam Robinson combo. They will combine for 200 yards and 3 TD's.

I agree with most of that, but your hawk homerism once again got the better of you. Robinson and Hampton will combine for more like 120 yards. The final score will be closer and the only way Iowa scores over 30 is if Arnaud has a game like last season.

Iowa State will win if... They score more points than Iowa

Iowa will win if.... They score more points than Iowa State

Final Score Prediction... 27-20 ISU

Gamebreaker Arnaud puts his helmet in Adrian Clayborn's chest and carries him into the endzone for the go-ahead TD

I predict that ISU will win if it can pass long and often. And if UEI makes a few key turnovers.

Unfortunately, the rep-mobile is out of gas, but +1000000.

Exactly, if Arnaud can control the clock, UI wont have a chance to score that much. If he throws interceptions all over, then Iowa will get a million chances to ring it up.

If Iowa has to put the nickle package out there, there is a corner who will be picked on mightily. Micah what-ever his name is (#18) blows.

Iowa's O-Line is nothing to write home about either Hawkfan. Look for some blindside blitzing from a lot bigger, faster and harder hitting corners than you've seen so far. I've said it before, Stanzi should have his head on a swivel. Wally will throw some stunts at that inexperienced O-Line all afternoon.

Iowa's running game doesn't really worry me all that much either. I'm not really worried about that Iowa D-Line either, even though they are an extremely good unit. I am confident in our O-Line. The position that does give me cause for worry is the position that ALWAYS worries me...TE. Iowa has another real good one in Reisner.

I'm not going to say how I would bet, but I do see a dogfight next week.

i predict multiple fights and arrests if iowa state wins the game

but they won't

24-20 Iowa

Although, i can definitely see arnaud come to play... with the deck stacked against him.. and get his revenge on Iowa in Iowa City. It just has a little "pre 09 nebraska game" feel to it. But not enough for me to predict otherwise.

For ISU to win I think we need to see some very long plays by WRs. Some 40+ yard bombs. I know our WRs are better this year, but I don't remember seeing many BIG pass plays during week 1.

I hope we can pull off a win but I think Iowa wins by 20.

They may have to be high lobs that our WRs can run under, but I think we have to try some of these. I was waiting all night Thursday for one. It was there for our taking with a short/slow corner for NIU.

Pretty fair assessment from OP but doubt UI's run attack will be the difference. AA will be a key. iowa's special teams will likely be the difference...any ISU punt is a scoring chance for Iowa and a chance for disaster.

I predict if Iowa wins this board will be filled with Iowa fans rubbing the win it and saying how important this game is to them. If ISU wins Iowa fans will be no where to be found and when they are found claim this game doesnt matter.

Arnaud will throw 2 picks and there will be one blocked punt. If ISU can overcome that it will be great theater.

I agree as well, this seems to be likely. Even so, I expect us to get at least 2 turnovers ourselves, but I don't think we'll score more than 2 touchdowns without the defense scoring or at least giving us multiple short fields. I also don't think Iowa scores over 30 unless we're -2 or more in the turnovers.

Likely, Iowa has much better field position through out the game and wears us down. I think around 27-17 Iowa.

I'll be satisfied if we score at least 2 touchdowns and hold Iowa under 30.

This. ...and one more thing...
Iowa keeps opening up the season with these extremely weak teams. How are they suposed to know what they need to work on??? E. Ill. scored on that Defense... Stanzi still played into the 4th qtr, and you STILL couldn't cover the (easy) spread. If Iowa is thinking this is going to be a walk away win... it's going to be a long afternoon.

I'm hoping the Clones improve mightily from week 1 to 2, and that Sims is ready to play well. I'll stand by my prediction of 16-14 ISU winning from the other thread. If we're going to pull an upset this year, I'm hoping it's this one.
