Prediction Thread

You mean Big 12.

Big 10 is a different story. We all know what an inferior conference you are from an on the field stand point.

So far this year (I know just one week) but the Big 12 doesn't look so hot. Kansas lost to an FCS team, Texas and OU struggled against very inferior opponents. This might finally be the year the Big 10 is better than the Big 12, but its still way to early to say anything for sure.

Guys, if you buy a cupcake from Wal-Mart or Crumbs, it is still a cupcake.

NIU would beat up on the bottom half of the Big Ten?? LOL.

Maybe you should ask the folks up in Madison about NIU... or ask the folks over in West Lafayette about NIU....

You might also ask the committee that nominates players to the watch list for the Doak Walker Award about Spann from NIU...

Some people are blind to reality... You sir are one of them. Put down the black and gold kool-aid for a second and rejoin the real world.

This. I was shocked at those games. A&M is VERY good when they decide to show up and play ball, but you never know when that's gonna happen. It was just week 1, but the Big 12 looked like it was in trouble this past weekend.

If ISU's O-Line can keep Arnaud from getting pressured, he can certainly beat the Hawks' defense. It's when he gets pressured that he gets antsy and just chucks it over the middle. When you're facing zone defense with guys like Sash and Greenwood out there, chucking it is rarely going to end well for a QB.

That said, I'm not thinking it's very likely that the O-Line keeps him from being pressured all game. It only takes a few times to force a couple mistakes. ISU did a pretty solid job last year against our D-Line, but only 3 starters are back from that O-Line, correct (I really don't remember, so someone correct me if I'm wrong)?

I'm very excited to see what the Hawks' O-Line does against a better team, and also to see Hampton back in the lineup. Expect to see more of the vertical passing game this week (if we'd pulled that out last week, we could have easily hung 50 on EIU. But that wasn't the gameplan.)

Should be a pretty decent game, I don't see the Hawks blowing out the Clones. They won't win by more than two TD's. My prediction: 24-9 Iowa (I just want to see the TD drought continue. I'm a Hawk fan, so don't begrudge me for that lol).

To be fair to Spann, I didn't get to see him play, let me just say that. So he may very well deserve notice by the committee. But those watch lists are pretty extensive. Daniel Murray made the Groza watch list, and he is nowhere near Groza material. Just saying that being on the watch list doesn't NECESSARILY mean that you are a stud at your position.

Math much? 2 TD's = 14 points. 24 (minus) 9 = 15 points.

Iowa: 425 public intoxications
ISU: 1 count of theft (of Iowa fans' pride) and 5 cars flipped over (in the victory celebration)

28-17 good guys. Tied at half 14-14. Iowa gets a field goal in the third to take the lead. ISU scores with ten minutes left in the game to make it 21-17. ISU pick sixes Stanzi to seal the deal with two minutes left.

I remember in 2005 Iowa playing Ball St the week prior to playing us and routing them to the tune of something like 58-0. We played, I believe, Illinois St. and although we struggled we won 32-21.

We went on to destroy then 9th ranked Iowa in Ames 23-3 the following weekend.

Iowa just played Eastern Illinois (who?) and thumped them. We just played a solid NIU team and beat them 27-10. We are again playing 9th ranked Iowa, but it is at Iowa. Their home field and our defense not being as good as it was in '05 will give Iowa an additional 17 pts.

Thus, I predict the final score will be 23-20, ISU.

I watched a sports show that Chris Williams was on this morning and he quoted some insiders saying our team is awesome. So I expect our team to come out and play awesome, Austen Arnaud is way better than Stanzi. I think Chris predicted 55-0, but i think that is a little steep. I will go with 45-3 ISU........Seneca Wallace.

So you can't think of a single game he has lost? That is what I thought.

Pittsburgh, he was so bad that Christenson had to come in to try to rally them back.

Illinois, a terrible 27-24 to a terrible Illinois team.

He was AWFUL against Iowa State two years ago, had Christenson not came in and made a couple plays, and a HORRIBLE helmet to helmet call, Iowa State may very well have won that game.

EDIT,

Sorry I forgot the five t.o.'s that he was a part of in a loss at home to Northwestern two years ago.

That is just off the top of my head, is that good enough?

So basically, you can't come up with anything since the 9th game of his career? During which time he was in a position battle and splitting time?

And Stanzi went 7-10 for 79 yards, with no INT's or fumbles against Pittsburgh. That loss was not even close to being on him. After Christensen's performance against ISU, Ferentz went with the upperclassman in the clutch the following week. There is not one person who doesn't think that he stuck with Christensen far too long.
