Potential Transfers '14

I see the following as the perfect situation playing out something like this during the next couple months.

Lee steps in and gives us a solid five in the frontcourt with Niang, McKay, Hogue, and Nader.

Edozie redshirts and finds a spot in the rotation in 15-16.

Gibson stays and fill the role of emergency big.

Fred finds a physical combo guard that can play right away as a senior.

SDW needs playing time, Indian Hills is a perfect situation as he has already burned his redshirt but would get a chance to develop at a place close to the program.

Finally Fred finds a traditional transfer who can play the wing spots with Nader and the two shooter after he sits a year.

Yes I know it's not likely but the plan seems to work well for all involved.

Edozie won't redshirt. As much as I like the guy, and I'm really a fan of him, I don't think it's worth it to redshirt a guy who may very well not find a spot in the rotation, especially if recruiting continues to improve.

As far as SDW going to Indian Hills, I don't see that happening.

The funny thing is posters (including myself) trying to predict what Fred will do this offseason when in reality, anything "big" FOR this program unfolds in about a day or two.

Every time we think we're about to get someone, they choose a different school.

But I think it's different with Lee.

I have a feeling he will choose ISU while on his visit. He talks them up already. Once he meets the staff and players in person the deal will be done.

I'm glad you aren't Swagberg

Not only are we active in the free agent market, but we're setting up a D league too?

I like Fred's choices on transfers to date, the only issue I have is I wonder how other coaches use Fred's relatively constant pace of recruiting over existing players with transfers? I would think an opposing coach could effectively use that against us in recruiting the high school senior?

You recruit over everybody, at all times, players know this.

Why is this a discussion? If Fred can get a top ten recruit who is one and done he will take him and not think twice. If he can get a great transfer he will take them. You are ******** if you think otherwise and that is has to be one or the other.

Every time? Except that time with Royce, Monte, Matt, McKay, Custer, Kane....

But everyone knows players are much happier when they lose playing time to a a freshman or sophomore, not a senior that is gone the next year.

How does a myth based on such stupidity keep on getting propagated? You do not take a 5th year transfer unless it is already a position of need. The other transfers that redshirt do nothing but assure guys they will have a better chance at PT. Again, who's PT did White, Babb, Lucious, Clyburn or Booker take?
PT is not more guaranteed if the coach is recruiting only high school guys every year. Good programs are always bringing in good players.

Name me one player who was happy with losing playing time...

Can we get past this pointless recruiting philosophy discussion and get back to what this thread should be about: Throwing every random reported transfers name against the wall and seeing which rumors stick?

Just found something about Cornell transfer Nolan Cressler. His stats don't look too bad, but it doesn't seem like too many high profile teams are after him

Yeah, seems to me to be more of Mid-Major type his current intrest, though it is a step up from Cornell.

RT @coreyevans_10: Nolan Cressler, a Cornell transfer, has heard from Pitt, Vandy (offer), UAB, Robert Morris, Rutgers, Butler, Quinnipiac,
