The recent outcry for political correctness and ***-kissing of current/prospective athletes is so sad. A person can't give a real opinion on here that's remotely negative without having someone cry about it. At this rate this forum will be nothing more than mafia games and other nerdy crap instead of actually having real discussions about ISU athletics.

This forum was so much better in the past. The content that CW and staff puts out is top notch but the forum is turning into a joke IMO

I went to the Recruiting Party at the Keg Stand and CPR took a moment to ask for cooperation from the fan base on this issue.

If I want to post something about a recruit I'm not excited about, I'm going to stop and think twice about it. And then I'm probably not going to post it. There are thousands of others things to complain about and I'll just have to pick one of those...

The people who get mad at others for making a negative opinion aren't any worse than the people who get mad at those who say "I trust Fred".

nobody's twisting your arm, guy. If you don't like it, you're free to go somewhere else.

For the record, the site rules have not really changed regarding this topic since Jeremy started the site. The number one rule when discussing players/recruits/coaches/other posters is "Be Respectful." It's that simple. If that makes CF all sunshine and unicorns, then so be it, because that's the way the site owners want it to be.

This is what is frustrating for me. If the HEAD COACH is talking about this it is an issue. I, as a fan, assume that if the coach offers a guy... he would like said player to sign with the good guys. To me that is a given. I may think that there are better players out there or whatever, and no doubt I have other players that I would rather we be in on, but it is what it is. Our coaches are going to make it or break it based on their ability to get the people they want... for whatever reason they feel they need to get the guy. I don't understand the need to type out posts like "meh" or "too slow" or whatever when we learn about a recruit or recently signed player.

Here is another thing... put yourself in the parent's or athlete's shoes. The day you make that decision to go to IOWA STATE to play a sport at THAT level, don't you think you would look at our most popular message board to see the reaction to your commitment? As a parent I know I would. It is crazy to think I wouldn't. You all would as well. Ask yourself if you would be offended by some of the comments on this board about your son before he even gets the chance to prove himself.

That said... once the guy is on campus and we (as fans) get to see what he's got, he's open to negativity. It's part of earning a scholarship in my mind... not direct tweets to him, but open debate about his game performance. That is totally fair and should be expected.

You know you guys are right. We should be happy settling for less.

If our coaches offer a scholly and accept the commit, how are we "settling for less"?

Less that what?

that's a really good point. How does choosing not to badmouth a player that the coaches have offered a scholarship equate to settling for less? How does voicing your displeasure equate to not settling for less?

Do coaches typically withdraw schollies based on fan input?

I'll make sure to be happy next time we lose a game. Wouldn't want to upset Fred.

seriously dude, I hope you're wearing gloves. Making all those strawmen has to be hell on your hands.
