Petras gets blasted by Barstool

So he saw one video of Petras throwing it deep at the Manning Academy. Petras does have a big arm, but that's it.

Fans are dumb and often pick up on these narratives, exaggerate and then pass it on until "Petras was the best QB at the Manning Passing Academy" is fact among the fanbase. I hear my dad do it with ISU, and it makes me cringe. Generally, never trust inside info coming from someone that isn't on the team lol

What if that someone has nearly double digit sources?

Yeah, we completely dominated the Iowa game this year, and still somehow tried to give it away with basically 5 turnovers.... 2 INT's, 1 fumble, and 2 punts blocked.... and still won the game. Nobody wins a football game with stats like that, but now we know just how bad Iowa really is, so it isn't too surprising. Stats from that domination (and some delusional Iowa fans thought Iowa was the better team that day)......

Yeah, the stats for the past 4 games are probably very similar. ISU has just found ways to lose to the Hawks, mostly thru turnovers. They have also flat dropped multiple INTs in several of those games. The only thing that was worse were all those KSU games where weird things would happen in the last 5 minutes to give the Cats the win.

My brother is a big Hawk fan and he contends that Petras was at some camp and was the best QB there. Really feels like he is a kid that practices great but loses his mind when the lights come on. Of course the big difference with the Iowa offense is they don't have one or two all American OL paving the way for Kirk's outdated offense.
My brother is a big Hawk fan and he said the Hawks still ain't playing their best QB. Keep an eye out for Joe Labas.

Picture says it all!!

At the same time, I get a lot of enjoyment watching Brian Ferentz burn to the ground.
Honestly, watching the Hawks get destroyed while ISU had a bye was kind of a college football palate-cleanser for me. I'd been getting frustrated enough with ISU that I wasn't enjoying watching other games as much. ISU's improved showing against Texas combined with a no stress / rival obliterated weekend really helped.

It still is a Cyclone State.

It's pretty easy to make throws and look great when you know there's 0% chance you're going to get hit.

Beautiful Saturday afternoon in the combine listening to the train wreck and ensuing meltdown on sound off was very enjoyable. The text group with my neighborhood cyclone farmers was entertaining as we all listened while in the field.

The brainwashing in this state is still very strong. And you can't argue their history with OL going to the NFL.

That said, their recruits have to be having serious questions about their commitment. Iowa State has needed their football program to descend into instability and infighting for 40 years, and it never seems to happen.
the have gotten lucky a lot, with schedule breaks mostly. In the modern era, Fry and onward, they won all their Big 10 titles expect for one as co-champs and they never played the other champ.

Why the regents don't step in blows my mind. Barta costs Iowa millions due to his lgbtq coaching discrimination lawsuits. Openly allows nepotism within FB program. Allowed the rhabdo issue go unpunished in any meaningful way. Has a racial profiling scandal that ousts Doyle from his job and ruins hisreputation, and accusations still in court for both Ferentzs of being racist.
If the Regents stepped in they'd also need to address the nepotism that's existed in Iowa State athletics. While it hasn't backfired like it has in Iowa City, it's still nepotism and it's not allowed anywhere else in the university.

Isn’t it mathematically impossible to be co-champs and play each other?

It goes way beyond scheduling breaks. I have never seen a team that has had a DB completely out of position somehow have the ball go right to them. They seem to get a turnover every time they need one. If that ball can bounce their way it does. Actually surprised that Iowa had 6 TOs against tOSU. Usually they would get several TOs and stay in that game with no offense at all.

He shows a lot of character every time I see the post game interviews.
He's bad, real bad, but he's not hiding.
And it’s not his fault. There should be no way Brian Ferentz is involved in that program next year. Any other name would have been fired by now

I’m surprised someone like that in the SEC hasn’t. But I’m not sure Parker ever leaves Iowa.

It's really pretty incredible how lucky Iowa has been in almost zero turnover in the coaching tree. Those guys have been incredibly loyal to Kirk and the program. I hope they enjoy it because that isn't going to happen again. When Kirk does step down Iowa and their fans are going to experience what every other program in the country (outside of a select few) have had to deal with.
