Petras gets blasted by Barstool

Petras isn't good but he's far from their only problem. He's won games as a game manager in the past, they simply don't have their typical type of team around him. I get why the qb gets the focus but that program has major issues. It's almost like they had a major issue festering for years that they only half assed addressed.
and yet they still have a 5 star recruit coming in on the O-line.

I feel bad for Petras, he’s an amateur athlete that’s put in a terrible spot. He seems like a good kid who have handled everything with class.

At the same time, I get a lot of enjoyment watching Brian Ferentz burn to the ground.

Respect the kid for always answering questions after the game and taking the heat. He's a mature adult. Cannot say the same for BF.

Also, can't blame the kid that he's their best option at QB.... that's KF's fault.
This is spot on. Iowa recruited him and offered him a scholarship. What was he going to say? I don’t think he is a D1 quarterback. Obviously the competitor in him does so he keeps the drive. He owns it. I do admire the young man. He tries. He just isn’t a D1 quarterback.
What is the untold story here is. Brian and Kirk kept saying he is our best option. Finally they said “Fine, you all want Padilla: here he is!” Turnover, Turnover. It’s true Petras is their best option. Yet everyone is commenting on putting in the backup and not “we’ve got a top 10 defense and not a single salvageable quarterback wants to come here?”

Petras is not good but they don't have much around him at all.

ISU not beating Iowa by 4 TDs was a bad sign looking back.
Tried to say something similar right after the Iowa game on this forum and got a pretty frosty response. I was really hoping they were right and I was wrong.

Yeah, we completely dominated the Iowa game this year, and still somehow tried to give it away with basically 5 turnovers.... 2 INT's, 1 fumble, and 2 punts blocked.... and still won the game. Nobody wins a football game with stats like that, but now we know just how bad Iowa really is, so it isn't too surprising. Stats from that domination (and some delusional Iowa fans thought Iowa was the better team that day)......

Which troll stated that Petras broke all of Jared Goff’s high school records? I wonder if that included INTs, incompletions, yards lost, number of sacks, and under/overthrows.

When Barstool blasts you, ie the Hawks offense, you really have hit bottom. Padilla plays so Brian can say, see told you there wasn't any upside. Petras returns to starting so the failure focus is on him instead of Brian.

Their pathetic schedule COULD let them win out, 8 or at least 7 wins, Kirk was right to stay the course, Brian is fine. Rinse, repeat, Kirk banks his $7 and gives Brian a raise, and also to his SIL for the great job recruiting.

Of course, they don't bring in Padilla until it's an unwinnable game so they can go "see, he sucks, now y'all can shut up".

The brainwashing in this state is still very strong. And you can't argue their history with OL going to the NFL.

That said, their recruits have to be having serious questions about their commitment. Iowa State has needed their football program to descend into instability and infighting for 40 years, and it never seems to happen.

I wondered if Padilla fumbled on purpose as an FU to Ferentz?

My brother is a big Hawk fan and he contends that Petras was at some camp and was the best QB there. Really feels like he is a kid that practices great but loses his mind when the lights come on. Of course the big difference with the Iowa offense is they don't have one or two all American OL paving the way for Kirk's outdated offense.

Either Kirk and/or Brian stay and the offense is trash or Kirk and Brian go and the OL tradition goes with them, either way, what's the positive of staying at home for Iowa? He's going to Bama one way or another.

There are a number of Kirk detractors on there. (Not sure how many are bonafide Hok fans...)

So he saw one video of Petras throwing it deep at the Manning Academy. Petras does have a big arm, but that's it.

Fans are dumb and often pick up on these narratives, exaggerate and then pass it on until "Petras was the best QB at the Manning Passing Academy" is fact among the fanbase. I hear my dad do it with ISU, and it makes me cringe. Generally, never trust inside info coming from someone that isn't on the team lol
