Petition on Big XII Refs

I'm pretty sure we had one those suspended refs at the game in WV this season, not that it had anything to do with the outcome, but I knew it was going to be tough to win when I saw him walk onto the floor. Tom O'Neil is his name I think.
You mean Tom O'Jayhawk.

I love the petition....I agree with it, and it is also funny. They want euros or bitcoin to propogate it.

Anyway, this will continue. No change unless there is conference re-alignment. I am amazed at the people who are deniers of the human factor with these referees......of course they are going to hedge or lean in a direction that would not blow a bad call against KU. They can blow calls against TT or Iowa State without repurcussion.....see the lame suspension given for the game that was handed to KU last year. They still work. If a "Big 12" (yeah we know KU a-holes, they are contracted through your friends and boosters, not technically employees) referee was to blow the same non-charge call or serially make the same bias AGAINST KU, their career would be over. It is just human nature. Big 12 referees would be great to officiate a Putin versus peasant schmuck boxing match....Putin wins every time. Same psychology. The players and Self have calibrated to this too.....they know they can play uber-aggressive at crunch time....the very real possibilities that they will never be penalized on late "heroics" factors into everything they do. I want out of the Big 12.

Pullnpray...you're trolling another team's fan site, bragging up your team. KU wins a lot. We get that. You're a troll. We get that too.

Do you now understand why many of us dislike KU FANS?

Valid? Sure...everyone has the right to their opinion and to share it in any appropriate method they choose. Worth the effort? Heck no.

why aren't more people signing this!

1: Because it's dumb.

2: It won't do anything or likely even be seen by anyone outside of internet message boards,

3: It has no validity whatsoever because you can just make up the required information.

4: It's probably going to get you on about 1500 spam lists (despite their promise to the contrary).

I can provide more if needed.

Before someone says "Why come into the thread?" I was curious as to why the thread still had legs and was on the front page still...only to find out it's because people are fighting with Jayhawk trolls, which is about as useless as the petition.

Guilty as charged...

Whether it be real or fake it really should be changed to fix NCAA basketball refs. I know the officiating in the B1G is just as bad and slanted towards MSU/Wisky/tO$U, but I imagine it is just as bad in other leagues. Just watch a Duke game and see what they get away with.

In the KSU/KU animated gif, is that KSU getting called for a foul?!?!?! Is that Higgins standing right there looking right at it from 7 feet away? If that's the case can anyone with a straight face still think Higgins doesn't have a stiffy for KU after watching that?

There's absolutely no way a foul should be called on KSU there, KU moving screen is the right call, no call is an understandable blown call...foul on KSU when you're standing right there looking at it is beyond stupid into rigging territory. As was the call of Niang on the floor fouling a player who was laying on top of him.

Let's not even address which conference wants us, let's address which conference DOESN'T have the same problems with reffing as the Big 12.

Big 10? Michigan, Michigan St, Ohio St, and Wisconsin
SEC? Kentucky and Florida
ACC? UNC and Duke
Pac 12? UCLA and Arizona

It's plain simple - it doesn't matter what conference ISU is in, ISU is going to continue to be victimized by referees, or did you forget about the NCAA Tournament against OSU last year? We're going to continue to be victimized by referees until we learn how to close out a game in such a way that it is impossible for refs to influence the outcome of the game.

Don't refs that fail even the minimal standards we have for performance just go on to careers as Olympic figure skating judges?

If I had enough money I would pay for this petition to be a sponsor during a timeout at the Kansas vs ISU game at Hilton next year. Man that would be great if the refs and Bill Self heard that.

I'd argue that because you can't name just one team in those conferences it's not as bad. I grew up a Hawkeye fan and never had some feeling that when we played Michigan we needed to win by 15 to win the game even if it was in Carver. As a Cyclone fan it was pretty apparent to me quickly that KU had a different set of rules for conference play I had never seen before in my life.

Some of the calls KU gets are just beyond bizarre, if it's just random bad officiating we could see at least 2-3 recent KU games where some unheard of crazy blown call lost a game for them. It's a problem all around, but I have never seen it as pronounced as KU during league play.

I didn't think the OSU call was that bad, it was the wrong call but it was bang bang understandable bad call. The initial call against KU last year also wasn't that bad...bang bang charge/block no call...ok...then calling a foul on Georges after letting the contact go on the shot because a KU dude is laying on top of him? That's fixing a game.

One petition commentor thought that KU struggles in the NCAA tournament because of the beneficial officiating they get in the B12 conference that they don't get in the NCAA Tournament. Quickly refuted by a KU fan, but here are the recent stats:

2013 #1 seed Kansas squeaks by #16 seed Western Kentucky 64-57
2011 #1 seed Kansas loser to #11 seed VCU 71-61
2010 #1 seed Kansas loser to #9 seed Northern Iowa 69-67
2008 #1 seed Kansas squeaks by #10 seed Davidson 59-57
2006 #4 seed Kansas loser to #13 seed Bradley 77-73
2005 #3 seek Kansas loser to #14 seed Bucknell 64-63
