Hope you never live in Iowa City then...
To be fair, there are some folks ACTUALLY ATTENDING A UNIVERSITY there.

TBH - I only hear the superbowl comment when one side is talking about what the other side is saying.
We think the other side thinks this so we perpetuate it.
The Super Bowl thing is hilarious, they just can't come up with any other reason that they would lose. You know, maybe like:
Coaching
Talent
Heart
Effort
Play Calling
Time Management
The thought process that it must have taken to get to the point that you actually believe that statement must be entertaining. Really don't get the "We are the better team at the end of the day" argument. At the end of the day you lost the head-to-head match-up, aka your one chance to prove you are actually better.
Something I also want to discuss is the "Congrats, you won your super bowl" comments. I have grown up in other rivalries (Texas vs Texas A&M, South Carolina vs Clemson...Dad an A&M alum and brother a Clemson alum), and this is by far the stupidest response to a loss I have ever witnessed. And the weird thing is I hear it over and over again. It’s not just some subset of stupid Iowa fans, it’s practically systemic. Is there some original source for this remark, and why did anyone who heard this remark think "Yup, that'll show 'em!" Really digs me to the core every time I hear it, mostly because I utterly despise stupid people.
It is the most ridiculous argument of all time. "I'm better than you, so I'll let you win."

Iowa fans are utterly convinced it's still the 80s. I honestly doubt most of them have any idea Rhoads has gone to three bowls at Iowa State. They don't have any idea how good any of their competition is in present day. Probably still think Michigan and Penn State are the toughest games on their schedule.

No Penn State. No Ohio State. No Michigan.
But hey, Maryland is coming to town! How 'bout those Terps!
Anybody? Anybody?
Actually they go to Maryland, and Iowa will get crushed. Should be a fun one.No Penn State. No Ohio State. No Michigan.

Very confident they do. Maryland isn't bad, Iowa is.Playing the Terps in Maryland this year...the Hoks may well lose that one.
