Palestine Ohio

So it's on the front page of Fox News website right now, right?

Oh, sorry, I forgot we somehow don't count that as MSM even though it's the single largest media empire on the planet.

I just went to FoxNews after reading your post. Didn't see it on there. Maybe they rotate headline stories. Don't know.

But I was told the "MSM" was ignoring it to help Biden, so why would the anti-Biden news network not be blasting it front and center?

They have been.
I googled it and looks like apnews, Reuters, NY times, CBS, NBC, CNN etc all have stories on it.
Well that's weird, has anyone told @awd4cy yet that this was covered by other outlets?

I also just checked Fox News' site and it wasn't on their blaring red alarms front page, so...who exactly is the 'MSM', here? They all are acting the same.

It hasn’t been covered by mainstream media because the aftermath and the response makes the current administration look incompetent.
No doubt. That’s why the evil media didn’t hysterically cover a nonexistent recession or beat the inflation story to death for two plus years, right? Oh wait….

Not to mention barely ever reporting on the many positives of the economy in recent years.

Most have the Michigan State shooting as their top story which is probably fair but they're all covering this

I get the MSU shooting being at the top, that's fine. I also took a moment to scroll down the FN front page, past articles about an MSNBC talking head, some drama over a weird look at the Super Bowl, and a rare fish being caught. No sign of East Palestine, Ohio up front.

For me, I was aware of the photos from the fire and generally the news story, but after reading about it more felt like it warranted some extra attention.

Not really making your point, but yes Fox News has been covering it.
And I happen to have the freaking Today show on in the background and they have had updates on this as one of their leads since it happened, and NBC News' site just had an update on it last night.

Nobody's hiding this story. It happened 11 days ago. When there are major developments it gets reported.

Good to hear, it should be covered. Massive story.

Reading the articles I'm confused. Vinyl Chloride is a gas. Train crashed and gas leaked. Got it, this is all very bad.

But they talk about the Vinyl Chloride is now in the Ohio River leading to aquatic deaths as well as other animals who are coming to the water to drink are also dying. So is the air that concentrated that it is being absorbed in the water?

If that is the case then this not just very bad but really really bad.

Didn't some authority decide to burn the cars in question so they wouldn't explode? I'm not sure what the resulting burn products are, but they certainly are airborne. Talk about no good choices.

My understanding is that the vinyl chloride was stored as a liquid, so it was likely refrigerated. That along with butyl acrylate and other volatile and potentially explosive compounds were among the ~50 cars that derailed. The derailment caused a fire, so in order to avoid a catastrophic explosion, the decision was made to do a "controlled release" of the volatile compounds which involved burning them off.

The byproducts of this burning is what got into the air, and will make its way onto the ground, into the soil, and into the water system. It has already been detected in the Ohio river, so the long term damage can only be guessed at.
