Unless I am wrong, you must establish feet and ball in the offensive court in order for there to be an over and back. I thought having the officials reviewing the tape, they would over ride the call. Is it a reviewable error or were they checking the clock.

They messed up the call, as it wasn't over and back.

Not review-able.

They were only looking at the clock, as it kept running.

Can't review it.

You are right, all three points (two feet and the ball) have to contact the floor past the line, then one of the 3 has to touch the floor behind the line.

Terrible call and the ref that called it had no angle to even make the decision. It was a total joke.

One of those "Is there something going on here?" calls.

We've been fortunate to stay away from the ire of the Big12Refs this season but it's clear that KU needs to win and the refs are a big part of making that happen.

That was my thought. Why isn't this reviewable?
The same reason you can't review a foul call or a double dribble, I would have to assume. It is in the eye of the beholder, which makes sports and officiating what it is, but I think more-so because if they were to be able to challenge fouls and violations, the games would never end haha.

Although I will agree with lines and such where it can be more definitive on a replay, you would think that would be review-able.

Yep the ref that made the call was on the other side of the court, with at least 2 players between him and Monte.
The ref that should have made a call was literally 5 feet away and didn't make the call.

Yeah, I see it as more comparable to an OOB call or a 2/3 point shot review.

If you can review an out of bounds call at the end of the game, surely you should be able to review this. It was clearly not over and back but I understand how they could think it was based on the angle of the pass. That said, they guessed, which should not happen.

As someone stated, generally, you have to have both feet and the ball in the front court to have frontcourt status. One exception, if you are straddling the division line holding the ball and pick up the foot in the backcourt, you can't put it back down without violating. If the backcourt foot is the pivot, you can pivot the front foot back and forth without violating.

Not to mention, Babb was actually in the frontcourt when he got the ball. Basically there wasn't no way in hell this should have been called. Monte wasnt in the frontcourt yet and when Babb caught it he was in the frontcourt. It was maybe one of the worst calls all year as far as when in the game it was called and how wrong it was

Not saying you are wrong, but I would like to know where that is covered in the rule book (NFHS or NCAA) just for reference.

It's actually the trail official's call, even though in this case he was not closest to the play.

IMO, the officials should have gotten together and said hey, it wasn't a violation, but we didn't use replay to come to that conclusion, we came to it in our discussion. They'd be lying but they'd get the damn call right.

Oh well. We won.

Of course it's not reviewable. It's a judgment call during a live play. This is very different than an out-of-bounds call where its a dead ball regardless of who it's off of.
