OT - Cutting Cable

As @jdcyclone19 mentioned, you don't get to see what you're fast forwarding through so you have to guess when to stop fast forwarding. Also, you can't extend recording past an events end time. You have to record whatever is on next to ensure you get anything that runs long.

I love PS Vue, but lately there have been rumblings about Sony possibly dropping it, as they've stalled at 800,000 subscribers. That would be a shame since, imo, it's the best streaming service.

Some marketing experts have suggested they made a mistake by keeping "Playstation" in the name, as many people mistakenly assume you must own a Playstation to have the service.

The last price increase was the end for me. Great service but now more expensive than DirecTV Now with less channels. Too bad but they really botched the marketing.

I will be honest...when I was looking to cut the cord last winter I figured you had to have a Playstation to get PS Vue. Someone on this board told me otherwise but I just didn't consider it until I was told my impression was incorrect. I could see how this could be a major concern for Sony. That said...I still went with YouTube TV and am more than happy with it.

Hulu LiveTV and Sling are getting Discovery channels later this year. Yesssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!

I'll be dropping DTVnow for Hulu live tv when those channels are added around December. i really think Hulu live tv will be one of the best bang for the buck services once those are added. $40/mon with DVR included, some locals (KCCI, Fox 17, ABC), a lot of sports, and hulu's library. Great deal in my book vs DTVnow, TYTV and PS Vue.

That’s huge. Discovery was literally the only channel I missed watching when I went to Sling.

Hulu live just became too much of a pain in the ass with it’s no guide and mixing of live, on demand, and Regular hulu content.

I have Hulu Live, and it's gotten so much better in the past few months. For me personally best bang for your buck as in you get the Hulu back catalog (I am a sucker for old Always Sunny's). Youtube TV is probably a better option with the same price point and their DVR situation being better, but I really like Hulu Live

Glad to hear they're working on the interface. It drove me crazy. Since I watch a lot of HBO, the price point for DirecTV Now gives it the edge over Hulu Live for me.

That HBO deal they have is awesome. The good news is with these services it's so easy to switch back and forth if you want to. I might have to try DirectTVNow again, I didn't really like it the first time I tried it.

That is good to know. I'll probably do a trial of sling and hulu tv and then go from there. Been a while since I tried sling.

DTVN has the best channel lineup, imo, but when I tried it I got very inconsistent video quality, a problem echoed by several reviewers. And I've yet to hear anyone who was satisfied with their cloud DVR. Until they sort out those issues, it's a deal-breaker for me.

Vue has been flawless. Crystal clear picture and an actual, working cloud DVR. That said, I'm not saving that much over cable with it.

This is where I am at. I've explored many options looking for something that fits with what the wife and I like to watch, and when it all adds up I'm not really saving much for the inconvenience.

Plus our Mediacom internet blows and a lot of time it craps the bed, so we'd miss out on tv or have very low quality from the crap bandwidth.

OT: We also have Mediacom. For the first 11 years in our current house, reliability was crap. Last year they ran fiber to our hood and I haven't had a single glitch since, knock on wood.
