If you would have told me we that we would have 574 yards of offense, no punts, and 34 first downs then I would have chalked up a victory for sure. I realize aTm's D is terrible but I'm at a loss how you can lose a game like that. I'm going to ponder that as I drink every can of beer in my refrigerator. Focker out!!!!!!!!

I have to agree with everyone saying we need to open it up, go for it on 4th down as long as you are beyond the 50. If you are more than 14 pts down don't settle for FG's. Go for the TD. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE!

i am a cyclone diehard... more than you know. i also know when i see one of the worst football teams ever to pass through ames. i dont care if we put up 35 points on them. we are officially the worst of the worst and nothing is gonna change that. i guarantee we don't win another game

well i dont want to fire the current staff except for maybe some assistants. But, Fulmer?(SP*) he'll be looking for a job after this year.

You don't think Chizik has input in the schemes? I doubt Bolt does a lot without Gene's input.

Bolt is a DC. It's his job and I am sure Chizik is involved but if he has to do it all what is he paying Bolt for. Chizik has to know he can rely on Bolt to make game changes and schemes. If not, he made a bad hire and will have to make a tough decision. The defense appears to be getting more athletic but that has not transferred into better play. It was good to hear the GC did get into Bolt's grill tonight.

Agreed. It was a minor miracle getting the calibur of coach (Chizik) to come to Ames. He was the top assistant in college football for crying out loud. IMO, if ISU pulls the plug too soon they will never get another legitimate coach to take the job.

The defense has been horrid for years. Mac's last few teams couldnt stop anybody and the trend hasnt changed. And we have hired to defensive "geniuses" that have taken us no where. I dream of the day we get someone with a defensive scheme we can be proud of. I like GC and will give him a lot of rope before I go off the deep end, but, I think he needs to take a hard look at Bolt's schemes and offer some advice.

So you are saying the man who was voted Assistant Coach of the Year as a DC has horrendous schemes? I guess we are sunk then.

Gene is more than involved. This is HIS defense. He laid out the formations and philosophies and trained Bolt to coach it. Blaming Bolt instead of Chizik is a cop-out.

They do not appear to work in the Big12.....rgw ewceivers just go to an open area and catch a 20 yard pass for four weeks ina row. No arms up to block vision. No thrust. No sacks. Just completions at 80% clip.

Eh, if some of you want to jump ship go ahead. Was it ugly? Yeah, but I sat through 12 years of DM(who I liked btw) there were ups and downs. Almost 2 years into a rebuild, and Im not giving up. The steam has run out of the team...Take the summer and build it back up. Come back out with a clean slate and try again.

So you've packed it in for this season with four games left?
