*** Official ISU Creighton Post game thread ***

Good riddance of McDermott and this game.

On another subject:
Only a little over 10K fans? Gee, I could swear I remember something like 12K on a fairly regular basis at Hilton (mostly Cyclone fans alone). Playing in DSM only hurts the cyclone fanbase. I hope it stops sometime soon.

First off, we haven't played in DSM for a few years. When we played Bradley, attendance was HORRIBLE at WFA.

Secondly, the crowd today was bigger in number than any of the previous games. Sure, there were probably around 3,000 Creighton fans, and the reported "attendance" was lower than the Hilton number, but as another poster said, today's number was butts in seats. This game was louder than any non-conference game in Hilton in years!

Third, WFA has grown on me. If it's over Thanksgiving or Christmas when students aren't there, I love the idea of this game. Maybe we could even make it a thing where we would play a regional rival every year - Creighton, Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois? Trying to expand our footprint in DSM is a good thing for bringing in casual fans and it's a great thing for recruiting to our university against EIU.

For those who were at the game...

In the postgame interview, Hoiberg said he really ripped into the guys early in the second half. Did anyone see this? Please describe...I'm curious as to how that looked, since Freddy seems so mild-mannered.

Yes. The funny thing is that even when Coach Hoiberg lays into the team his body language remains extremely calm. You can tell he is raising his voice but that is it. He doesn't flail or use any additional body movement like most other coaches would when chewing out the team or a referee.

He got into them, but I don't think I saw him waving his arms around or anything like George Costanza (T-Bone) did.

BTW, anyone else at the game notice that our coaches really didn't hold our guys in the huddles during timeouts for very long? Our guys were back out milling around on the floor for 30-45 seconds before timeouts were over and McDermott was still over there coaching his guys up. Either McDermott was overcoaching or Fred was undercoaching.

Your logic is lacking.

I do think it is funny that we ran off Morgan for a similar "get em ready and stay out of their way." But I think that we swung too far the other way with McD. I think CFH was where he needed to be, but he is definately closer to Morgan than McD.

Not a knock on anybody, but today the guys were just free enough to win the game without worrying about screwing up one of the 200 plays in the playbook. I also like that he can get into the team and not make a spectacle of it. Its a little like its just between him and his boys. Worked out well today and very happy today.

I don't think it's quite the same. Ejim was a couple of minutes late to shootaround, so he didn't start. I don't think Stinson sits for something similar under Morgan. Freddy appears to be more of a disciplinarian. Just my 2 cents...

Someone behind me said that he threw his clipboard down, but I didn't see it.

Justice was served! The refs were absolutly horrible to isu the whole night. They travelled the entire first half and only got called once, if that. The fouls at the end were horribly called. McD should have gotten T'ed up, and didn't. The foul calls at the end were bull sheet. But we should have made our free-throws, and could be argued we didnt diserve to win... but guess what... WE DID! Go Clones! those CU fans were anoying.

Agree. I just watched the hightlights on who13 and there was absoulutely no foul on the missed free throw, he didn't even get touched, the creighton played flopped like they were doing all night, and the refs fell for it all night. McD definitely should have gotten a T, he was out in the middle of the court yelling for about a minute straight. Gotta make free throws and there would be no controversy. Better team won, go clones!

I agree that it's good to have the game in Des Moines but I was there and I'd say 1/3 of the fans were from Creighton.

Go Creighto Should have one another:sad:

First off, You should not have WON another. You could say that it should have gone to OT, but you don't win without that shot. 2nd. Nothing has shown the clock with the shot in his hand.

The red light is on but no 0.0.

Your guys played a great game, but you should not have been at the line either so the whole should have won is wrong in multiple ways. Yeah it sucks if that is the case, but take your should have "one" and go back to the Nebby football season. Gotta laugh at the "professional jabs" from the OWH. Usually they are better than that.

Sums it up pretty well.
