OFFICIAL Colorado post-game MELTDOWN Thread

We are 3-4/5-6..........in Rhoads second season after previous coach jets......with the nations toughest schedule......in a position to make a bowl.....and we have a meltdown thread? Is this a Hawk or Cyclone site................I forget!

We're in the middle of November and we just gave Colorado their first conference win. Its OK to be a bit miffed by that considering the level of play we saw on the field yesterday.

That "nations toughest schedule" stuff has to die. That was at the start of the year. Utah hasn't beaten anybody all year, Texas probably won't go to a bowl. Texas Tech has their worst team in a decade. Iowa just lost their 3rd game. OU and NU are the only teams that have lived up to their preseason rankings and both of those teams haven't looked that great several times this year. But you are right. One loss away from home in the conference shouldn't cause a meltdown. Rhoads has won a lot of games in the last two years when his team was outgained and had less 1st downs. That's the sign of a good coach and I think he'll get better and better.

Understood........but let me put this into context the way I see it. We are about 4 feet of air away from being 4-3/6-5........and the school to our east is a dropped pass from an Indiana reciever away from being 3-3/6-4. Now......who exactly was suppose to be the one struggling to compete this year.....and who was expected to not only win their conference.....but fight for the whole ball of wax? Granted the bar for ISU isn't set in Iowa City. But point is........while they may have a legit reason to melt......we don't. Heck after the OU game we were seriously questioning if we were going to win another game this season. So IMO, and all things considered.....it's fine to get a "bit miffed". And in a couple of years.......if they were to lose to a South Dakota State at JTS........we'll talk meltdowns. But not now.

Im taking about the players second guessing the coaches at the end of the NEBRASKA game. Please read my original post.

Regardless, any player who questions his decision needs to smarten up. They effed up enough previously to cause him to make those decisions.

If ISU is running out of gas, shouldn't Colorado been suffering from the same problem?

Our team gets major props and pats on the back for excellent performances. It is completely fair to be disappointed in them for a very poor showing.

Watched it. Texas and CU are equally bad. The fact that we dominated Texas and were dominated by CU is very sad.
If they are running out of gas, they better fill up. One more week for the seniors and that is it. Then they can lay down.

It is the offense being ineffective. Eight drives for four yards is as bad as you can play. 228 yards offense is what a Wyoming could get against Colorado. I sure hope Herman makes some changes next year because the Chiz offense worked better.

running out of gas? yeah, expecting a group a players to play hard on 12 game days out of the year is really brutal

I just could not get over how our four year starter could not recognize a blitz while no matter what we threw at the opposing four year starter we were picked apart. How many three and outs did ISU have? I think looking over at the sideline before every freaking play was a crutch and hurt AA's ability to read defenses (and thus having difficulties with blitzes, looking down receivers and/or throwing into double coverages).

This year has been a real crazy blend of highs and lows. It will really be a shame if it ends next Saturday. Mainly for the senior's sake. I really like this senior class.

Just because we are embarrassed or disappointed by the Clones today, which we should be, doesn't mean we are bailing on the team. I guarantee CPR didn't go into the locker room and tell the guys he is proud of them today. We played like crap today...uninspired crap. There are a lot of wonderful things happening to this program, but today was a step back.

We also need to get out of the mentality that this is overachieving. The games we won this year, we should have won. We also should have kicked the crud out of CO today. We also should have probably beat KState and Nebraska...that isn't overachieving. We need to raise our expectations, with realism, but raise them either way because that is what makes a tier 1 program.

I love Rhoads because he isn't going to blow sunshine up our ***** when we suck, but he also is the guy who will get these guys ready for next week. We, as fans, need to be supportive for sure, but still honest. To be honest, there is a moment every year when I want to stop being a Cyclone fan and anybody on here who tells you different is lying...I still buy my season tickets every year, fly the IState flag in front of my house every week, and wear my IState polos to work...in Omaha... and show up on this site to commiserate with those who understand. Don't bag on us because we should have been embarrassed today.

let me see if I have this right.... we can come here and rip the players and coaches but call out a poster and everyone gets sanctimonious...I understand now

On the other hand, I too am dissapointed with the outcome on Saturday...and yes I was frustrated while watching the game. However, I am not embarrassed because I am not on the team and my personal feeling of self worth is not dictated by the efforts of 18-22 yr old kids....does it effect my mood? yes can I get over it and move on to more important things? I'd like to think so.

If I was too over the top in my original criticism then I do apologize...as a former coach I can be a little defensive at times.

Wow we've reached the point of lame excuses to defend losses.

Well, the first few losses of the year, the typical excuse was that we lost to an NFL-caliber team. (See: Iowa, Utah, and Oklahoma post-game threads) That just doesn't work with Colorado, though, so people have to find other excuses.
