A Big 12/Pac12 semi-merger makes a lot of sense, at least in terms of easily splitting the conference into two divisions (a Pac 10 division and a Big 12 division)

I think the Big 10 will have to use 4 team pods (or 5 if they go to 20) as the conference doesn't lend itself to splitting the divisions in two very easily.
Does that mean we get Colorado back in our division?

Interesting reply to Tom Dienhart by a national writer. I think this GT things has legs.

It most certainly does. The ACC is on life support...just a matter of time. I have no idea how things will shake out but I'm pretty much convinced that the B12 will come out the other end of the tunnel wave on it's feet.

Sounds like where we were a year ago with the B12.

The networks worked to implode the B12 via the pac 12. That failed. Now they are working the aholes of the ACC and BE to get to four super conferences minus those guys. Let's just get this over. We will have new rivalries and rescheduling of future football games so ESPN can have some entertainment value.

Uh, no they didn't.

FOX and ESPN paid a lot to make sure the Big 12 still existed.

My vomit just vomitted.

? Not sure what you are implying...if I suggested something offensive I apologize. I was just posting my thoughts...sorry.
-Because anything based on ND joining a conference right now is far-fetched
-UNC and UVa can stay as long as they want, but other ACC teams will be poached, and ND certainly will not be joining that patch-work of a conference. That would not be on equal footing with the Big 12

Your whole premise of getting the ACC back to equal footing with the Big 12 is not possible. The damage has been done. Even if they somehow got ND, all the teams would need to agree to a GoR, but even then they have already given ABC their 3T rights.

Fair enough...but because you disagree with me or my premise, it certainly doesn't entitle you to label me a troll. Again, sorry if my views upset you. I was not nor am I trying to goad you into an argument. Just stating some thoughts and "what-ifs". I am certainly not the only one doing so but I will try not to post those types of statements if it angers people.

Many felt it was far-fetched to believe the Big 12 would survive in the last go around but fortunately it did. I wouldn't bet $10 on any specific outcome of the realignment topic because I have no idea how it will end up. As I stated before, I do enjoy reading about it.

Not as much sense as the Big 12 adding 6 or 8 ACC schools.

Hopefully UT has moved on from ND. College athletics does not need two conferences making moves based on a a ND rejection.

That makes more sense but I was just talking about splitting up a 20 team conference, that move would make the most sense.

The Big12 was cooked at one point too remember....

Georgia Tech to the B10?

please add Clemson and Flor St.

If the B1G poaches another ACC team (or any conference for that matter), there will be no saving it, IMO. If GT and/or UVA and/or UNC to the B1G, then you will see...

NC State and Va Tech to SEC. FSU, Clemson, Miami and potentially more if they can find teams that bring TV value, to the B12.

With Duke's b-ball program, I can't see them being left out in the cold, unless they just decide they don't care at all about football and stay in the ACC/Big East merger with the basketball schools.
