If GT is moving to the Big Ten is true, I wonder what this means for ND.

Not at all, this year was set up perfectly for ND's indy status to cost them a trip to NC but , Bama, Oregon and Kstate couldn't hold up their end of the deal. Had ND been one of 3 or 4 undefeated's and gotten left out of the NC in favor of 2 teams that belong to a conference, that could have opened their eyes to the benefits of being in a conference.

Uh, no they didn't.

FOX and ESPN paid a lot to make sure the Big 12 still existed.
Was thinking te same thing. Are so many people brainwashed that they can't even remember factual events?

Also, 4 16 team conferences as the only four that will have access to the playoff is not going to happen. I don't understand this fascination with this unrealistic concept.

That was last year. This year the BCS was changed to four teams and four 16 team leagues fit perfect.

There will still be "access" for teams outside of the top 4 conferences. Plus they have rejected just conference champions, but people still act like there will be this magic number of 16 teams in each conference with ONLY the champions of those 4 conferences ELIGIBLE for the playoffs. Not going to happen. It is unrealistic. Tell me the process of how we get there because I can't see it. Too many hurdles and too many legal issues.

With that being said, super conferences are here and the four major conferences will dominate the playoffs. It will be rare for a team to be chosen outside of those four especially if not unbeaten. But it will not ALWAYS be the champions of four specific conferences every year.

Also just because it fits perfect mathematically does not make it realistic. It is like this perfect scenario people have dreamed up and think it will just magically happen. College football is not a league that has a leader that oversees the structure. If this was a professional sport, the "perfect" structure could be realistic, but for college, there are too many individual competing interests for the "perfect" scenario to be realistic.

I think Georgia Tech is gone. They need a partner though. I'm guessing the Big Ten will make one final play for Notre Dame, if they can't get them, they'll grab another southern school. One rumor I've read is possibly Miami. They certainly don't have a lot of fans, but they are in the heavily populated southern Florida area.

If by stable, you mean weaker, than yes. Good luck getting teams to sign a GoR with a brand new TV deal that puts you in a clear 5th place. (before losing Maryland). The Big 12 was NEVER in that position.

Well you're kind of right because there wasn't going to be a Big12 anymore. You do remember when we were a weekend away from Texas and Oklahoma joining the PAC? I'm not saying the ACC is in a good position but all we have are rumors and wild speculation. Hell the Kansas rumor started on a Kansas board where they were spitballing who the Big10 could take next (citation needed). There was a lot more discourse in the Big 12...we lost 4 teams. I count 1 for the ACC.

And I'm not talking about now with the Big12. I was talking about when we were ready to fold....before the GOR...etc. The Big12 isn't going anywhere now. They may add but not losing anyone.

So the big ten is going to change their name to The Big Country Conference or what this is getting stupid screw the Big Ten. If GT is thinking about leaving why lie about it and say we are committed to the ACC just say we are weighing our best options at this point. If they do the ACC is done.

I'm sorry but no way. I don't even think Georgia Tech is going. Could I see Boston College..yes. If you look at Big 10 GT does not fit in any way. They might as well add UCLA. But then again WV doesn't really belong in the Big12 either so who knows but this doesn't seem to fit the Big10's mold. Someone brought up Mizzou and even with them joining the SEC they are a way better fit than any of the other ACC schools IMO. Who knows. But I think we'll all be disappointed in the lack of change.

MIAMI? Are ******* kidding me? I guess you can throw academic standards among their schools out the ******* window!

Occam's razor. They were just unsubstantiated rumors and GT is clearing the air.

Miami has plenty of fans--don't forget that they were a powerhouse for 20 years or so.

IF super conferences ever happen, I think the ACC, SEC, Big 10 and Big 12 will be OK. Its the Pac 12 that needs to worry as they have no where to expand.

Where would the Pac 12 teams go? For the same reason that it's tough to see where they expand, it's tough to see where one of them would leave as well.
