It would be interesting going with more of an NFL model. How the hell would you do the playoffs with only 3 conferences and two divisions of 10 teams each? That makes 6 teams. Would there be "wildcards" to bring it to 8? Would 2 teams get a "bye" and the other 4 have a play in game?
because a grant of rights means we are relinquising ownership of our media rights to the conference. That simple. We no longer own the rights just like Michael Jackson owning the beatles rights the big 12 conference owns texas isuand etc. With or without tex. In thethe conference. The only way to break a GOR is to have the conference to grant the rights back, or all members agree to dissolve the conference and give them back (this won't happen unless all had a suitable home). The conference could vote to grant all rights back (assuming this would require at least a majority and possibly 2/3 vote depending on the bylaws. So yes the confernce probably could vote to grant back rights but the notion was that if 4 schools left it would take one more to dissolve is false. GOR dont dissolve they are just regranted. Can you show me where it says the Big 12 GOR can't be dissolved. Have you read the Big 12 GOR? Is the GOR available somewhere where we can read it? The last time I checked the Big 12 handbook, it had not been updated with the GOR.
If you have read the GOR, what kind of language and provisions does it contain that would prevent it from being dissolved?
If you haven't read it, why are you so sure it can't be dissolved?
I would think some good lawyers could wiggle out of a GOR. Something signed for 13 years may not stand up in court.
We are awfully close to 100 pages. If more expansion actually happens, this thread could start to live up to its predecessor.
I am become death, destroyer of worlds.
A&M's stock hasn't risen. They have a good QB and proved that the SEC is beatable for other teams. I think the SEC value has decreased to be honest. UT could care less as long as they have their TV network.

Will he go pro this next year? Chiefs need a qb like him.A&M's stock hasn't risen. They have a good QB and proved that the SEC is beatable for other teams. I think the SEC value has decreased to be honest. UT could care less as long as they have their TV network.
But wouldn't you know that part of the reason the Big Ten added Maryland and Rutgers was because they feared losing its easternmost member to an unspecified "league somewhere on the East Coast?" According to Wisconsin A.D. Barry Alvarez, anyway:
"Jim felt that someday, if we didn't have anyone else in that corridor, someday it wouldn't make sense maybe for Penn State to be in our league," Alvarez told the board, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "That they would go into a league somewhere on the East Coast. By doing that, it keeps us in the Northeast corridor."Turns out the cat was already out of the bag. Delany seemingly backed up Alvarez's comments a month ago when asked about the prospect of losing teams to other conferences.
"But I do think that you need to build, and this build really solidifies the expansion we've done in the past. We've done one in the East, we've done one in the West [Nebraska in 2010]. I would say the driving force is demographics, but when you look at it, you can't help but think this is good for Penn State as well."
I do think A$M's stock has risin, but at the expense of Arkansas's/Auburn's stock. I think Sumlin is a great coach and A$M will be a force in the SEC as Arky and Auburn decline. However, the Longhorn's are the team of Texas and nothing will change that. People in New York City won't randomly start liking the Mets...it's all Yankees all the time. Bevo is no different.
Bevo wants the big 12 so the big 12 will continue to exist.
Obviously trailer courts sends fans to game. This is true. University of Texas has garnered the random trailer court crowd; whereas, the only people who like A&M are people who went to A&M or who have kids who went to A&M. Oklahoma has largely won the trailer court crowd in their state, but Oklahoma State is really making a run at this now w/ T Boone's financial backing really playing a role there. The Halkeyes have the trailer court crowd in Iowa, but if we continue to make improvements we'll have them before long!
