Official 2015 Hoiberg NBA Speculation Thread

JSB has been saying Fred is leaving for more than a month now, sounds like Fred decided well before last week.

The people who were stating that for the last month were basing it on TJ returning and the Lorenzo Romar quote. Was the UW coach somehow in-the-know over everyone else while the Bulls were alive in the playoffs? Some took it further about MA leaving, Williams decommitting, Custer leaving, Diallo not committing, Paige going to KU, etc.

They will probably be right with the end result, however it doesn't mean they were right with their "proof."

My second Cookie Monster is probably not appropriate in this thread, but since the answer is always more Cookie Monster...

Cookie Monster = Fred
Plate of Cookies = Cash being thrown at him by the Bulls.

Isn't the fact that Thibbs hasn't been let go a good sign? They can't do anything until they get rid of Thibs first.

It's a good sign that Thibs is a first class a-hole. However, even if this plays out and the Bullz move doesn't work we're going to have a coach here that wouldn't be here if they had their own way on everything which is possibly more depressing than Fred just leaving.

Yeah, I don't care about any of that. I don't need to hear a bunch of meaningless ********. He knows what he's doing to ISU with this move. There is nothing he can say that will fix that and there's nothing that's going to make the move less harsh. He likes ISU, just not enough to stay. That's all fine, just save me the horse ****.
Half of me agrees completly, the other half has Fred so built up I want to and maybe choose to believe the BS.

I was a diehard Cyclone basketball fan through 2005 then my career changed and became very busy. 05' brought a couple of unexpected family deaths, I got married and in in 06' had a 10 week premature son that made me a NICU regular for 2 months during time I would have watched the Cyclones. By the time my second son came during the 07-08 season I had mostly trimmed the Cubs and Cyclone basketball out of my life catching the occasional game if I came across it was pretty much just football for me. By 2009-10 I couldn't name a player.

When they hired Fred I was instantly engaged again. Fred was my favorite player when I was in Jr. High and High School. I even watched a lot of his early NBA career. Hence, I watched every game in 2010-11 and went to most of them with my then 4 year old son buying one of the ticket packs they used to offer. He is 8 now and hasn't missed a Cyclone Basketball game (except the big Monday ones he fell asleep for :) it is kind of our thing. When he was 5 he got really sick, underwent chemo and couldn't go to games or really leave the house because he was so immune suppressed but never missed one. He isn't a big football fan (doesn't really get it) but he refused to be one of Kirk's kid captains because they wouldn't let him wear an ISU jersey at the game (he went to U of I hospitals for treatment), he is a diehard and loyal Cyclone because of Fred. When he finished his treatment and got the all clear and we went to Dayton for the tourney he chose this over Disney World. The 2 years he was getting treatment Cyclone basketball, Royce White, Chris Babb, Fred and company gave him something to look forward to, hope, distraction and enjoyment. It gave us something we could share too. For that I will be eternally grateful.

He told me last week his dream was to be a scientist and play basketball for the Cyclones and asked how he could do what Fred did (be a ball boy etc.) because he wanted to be like Fred. Given all this and how much Cyclone basketball has meant to us. I was bracing on how to tell him Fred was likely leaving because I knew he would be crushed, it has really been a special ride for us. Hell at age 6 he used Fred's loyalty to convince me not to move to Michigan.

Anyway, I told him last night and to my suprise he was fine with it. He said "I know, Caleb told me at school yesterday. He is going to the Bulls, now we will have two teams to cheer for!" I smiled and said "I guess we will".

Sorry for the long winded diatribe but as he often does he gave me a little perspective. Fred is a guy that has his own kids and own dreams and wants what's best for them the same way I do. He has given us a lot and I will forever be grateful despite the emotions I may feel. So for me and my son Fred is still our guy and always will be and now I get to spend more time with my son watching another team. At the end of the day that is really what it is all about.

Am I the only one who at this point does not care if Hoiberg leaves? I'm ready for Otz to be coach and get all this drama over with. I don't know which side is holding up the process (Bulls or Hoiberg), but I feel the whole thing has been handled poorly.

I do feel bad for Otz because, if he becomes the new coach, people here will talk all kinds of **** before he even coaches his first game and then they will crucify him after his first loss. It's going to be brutal.

Go ahead, pile it on me. I love Hoiberg and the job he did here, but like I said, I feel the whole thing has been handled very poorly and some of that blame might be on Fred himself. All I know for a fact is that if Fred leaves, the meltdown will be epic.

Which of these 78 pages give you that idea?? Mind blown.

At the Omaha Tailgate Tour last evening, there was a definite “elephant in the room”. It was cold there but the crowd was not as responsive as other events held outside at the zoo in previous years. Otz was on his phone a long time. A couple of joking remarks as to JP not there but no reason given that I heard. Otz did share Fred doing well from heart surgery four weeks ago. Fred’s dad was in attendance. It’s like they know and know that we know but let’s not talk about it.

Well Bullz or Thibs is holding this up. Hoiberg can't be the coach of the Bullz while Thibs is the coach of the Bullz and the Bullz can't get rid of Thibs officially and still get anything for him and not have to pay him. When you see the leaks about Thibs ultimate fate then you will know the end is near.

I don't think Thibs is holding up the process. If he wants to coach the Bulls and he is under contract to coach the Bulls, why would he quit? It is his boss's job to fire him if they don't want him anymore.

Most Bulls fans I know want them to keep Thibs. Weird situation but typical for the way the Bulls are managed I guess.

Twitter= Where local media can feel like their more important than they really are.

I like Keith Murphy but it is funny that he goes on Twitter and says he knows the Twolves are in play and talks about it all over the radio and then an hour later that gets proven to be false
