Note to Jon Miller

and nice attempt by you as well. So I'll word it another way.

Tell me what percentage of fans know their teams standings in the Directors Cup. Or hell, what percentage of fans even know what the Directors Cup is?

I don't have to tell you that Iowa fans like to brag about their athletic dept (and dare I say embellish a little) but even they didn't brag about beating ISU in the Director's Cup every year (until this one)

Ha ha, this is not about how ignorant (mot) Iowa fans are. Probably a good thing- that would be a pretty quick discussion. It is about what shape the two athletic departments ...which is best measured by the Directors Cup, not tavern-hawks banter.

Do you think 10% of ISU fans know their ranking in the Directors Cup? Do you think 10% of ISU students know the ranking?

So ISU ranks ahead of Iowa one time in more than a decade of the rankings and now they are in better shape?

The first part of your post about how ignorant fans can be is irrelevant.

As for the second part, if I was fit for most of the past 10 years, but now I am so overweight I am house-ridden and cannot even go to the bathroom, am I in good shape?

So the Directors Cup rankings are important, regardless of how many people actually pay attention to them. ok then

Nice analogy by the way.

What does the bolded part mean?

Here is a life tip for you. Stop listening to his show. Stop going to his website. I really do not understand people like you that HATE Jon Miller, but continue to listen to his show and read his website. Do you realize how stupid that is? If you hate something, avoid it.

Never been to his website. The only reason I listen to his show is I like to hear Deaces take on things.

How does it benefit Iowa?

Playing a BCS school that plays a tough schedule that helps Iowa in the big picture of college football. It also creates a lot of attention in the state for one week out of the year and attention=money.

How does it hurt Iowa? Dont tell me because it makes Iowa look bad if they lose the games, because the better team has won the game 24 out of the last 25 years. Yes I know if they win they are suppose to win and if they lose they are suppose to lose. How many times, take out the one game, has Iowa lost the ISU game and went on to have a great season. If they are worried about looking bad by losing to ISU, maybe they should win the game.

Gimme a break. If Iowa was ranked in the top 10 of Directors Cup, you'd be the first to remind everyone about it.

For a Hawkeye fan:
Directors Cup is to Iowa Basketball, no cares unless they are ranked.

I'm trying to get my head wrapped around this... on the cyclone side, you have a higher standing in the director's cup as proof of an athletic dept. in better shape... on the Hawkeye side, you have a national championship in Wrestling and a BCS bowl victory... hmmm.... which side do I come down on? Fortunately for the state of Iowa... Wrestling means something, but in general, olympic sports mean squat in the greater scheme of things.

Is anyone else not shocked at all that this post hasn't been taken on by a single hawk fan?

What is there to take on? I already discussed how much I think the Directors Cup is overrated.

If you are referring to Iowa fans not caring about basketball unless they're ranked, you're probably not far from the truth there. Iowa isn't the basketball school it used to be. It's pretty hard to be both a football school and a basketball school (meaning fans show up win or lose in both).

For Iowa fans the only sports that matter are the ones they win at.

I listened this morning on my way to work... Deace sure didn't argue with him on the topic of the game being a lose/lose for Iowa. Not saying he totally agrees with Miller, but it didn't sound like he thought it was totally off base, I have heard Deace usually says whats on his mind.

You are really reaching.

Playing Iowa is a real detriment to ISU actually. We'd be a lot better off scheduling cupcakes for all of our non-conference games.

As far as Iowa fans and their arrogance... it's about as bad as it gets. How soon they forget how awful they were not too long ago when they won 1 game one year. When was the last time Ohio St, USC, Florida, Alabama, Texas, etc won only one game all year?

How soon they forget about ISU owning them. There were ISU football players that never lost a game against Iowa in their entire four year careers.... less than 10 years ago.

How soon they forget that they only had to beat Western Michigan at home only a few years ago to make a bowl game.... and got it handed to them?

How soon they forget KF's record against ISU? Iowa is not a top 20 football program overall. They've had some really good seasons, but not consistently enough to be as good as they all think they are.

I loved watching Indiana beat the Hawks last night on the Big 10 Network when Iowa was ranked #15. Like usual... they were overrated.

We got an obsessive person right here! You watched a replay of the Hawks just because they lost? Get some hobbies. Stop being so grumpy since ISU is probably going to a lesser conference.

Does this sound obsessive to you: a poster dedicating 90% of their posts to one topic, regardless of forum? I'll trust you know.

Right . . What a passive . .losing attitude. I'm sure Pollard is right there with you. LOL

I have 0.20 posts per day. Thats not a lot of my time. He spent 3 hours of his life watching a replay of an Iowa game from a few years ago just because Iowa lost.
