New CyHawk Trophy

And what's going to happen to the old trophy? Do the Hawks get to keep it forever? This blows. We should should get a new one and make this trophy the one for the ISU-Oklahoma game. Then we'd never have to see it again. ARRR!!!! ARRRR!!!! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The old trophy will be on permanent display at the Iowa Hall of Pride in Des Moines.

This is what happens when you take Advertising Dollars for things that matter...The AD's of Both Schools need to step in and auction this thing off for charity and present the real trophy, the one that depicts Football, Rivalry, relevancy to the instituitons, Etc. I would rather see a Football made of Corn Kernels than this thing...How this crap happens I have no clue - NO ONE LIKES IT, accept it and make a new one, and quick.

Maybe both teams will just taken knee on every single play in hopes that they don't have to take home that trophy.

Or, maybe each team runs it backwards into the opposite end zone and takes a knee for safeties to try to throw the game to the other team. Final score 72-70.

The bottom line is...we have no one to blame but ourselves. The 2 schools sold us out. What did we think was gonna happen when we take money from an organization with an agenda. Of course they were gonna make it a commercial to promote themselves. It sucks for all of us. But, they don't care if the collective world of college football is laughing at us. They got their message out.

Blame ourselves? Nah - I blame those that made this decision to allow this thing no matter how much they got paid.

I don't buy the whole "any press is good press" concept. You'd have to imagine it is pretty humbling when 99.9% of everyone who has seen this trophy despises it.

Here's hoping they do the right thing and redesign it...but I'm not holding my breath. If they don't, well, life must suck for the Iowa Corn Growers with as much *** beating as this thing is going to bring over the years.

A re-design would be awesome. And a simple but elegant solution would be to just remove the bronze family and replace it with a bronze bushel basket. Call it the Battle for the Bushel Basket. Winner can fill it with corn from a Cyclone or Hawkeye farm.

It isn't so much that it is a commercial...heck, everything designed or named for the last ten years and for the future to probably will be. But, the point is it is a BAD commercial. It makes corn growers look silly and ignorant.

Sounds like it is getting redone. People are starting to tweet that the corn growers are doing it because everyone hates it.

This is a great move.

Anyway we still should win this one if they don't get a redesign in so we can set it on fire.

To be clear, IA Corn Growers have NOT done this. I'm saying they have opportunity, and should.
